Letter from the Editor

In his address to the 70th Grand Chapter in Ft. Lauderdale, Regent Maury Gaston (Auburn) reflected on a galvanizing theme that has inspired previous regencies and served as a source of encouragement and motivation for our brotherhood - the History, Traditions, and Heroes of the Legion of Honor.

In this issue of The Delta, we are excited to share with you a selection of stories and updates from our brotherhood that highlight the special and sustaining legacy of our Fraternity. In the words of Regent Gaston, “We all stand on the shoulders of countless heroes and positive traditions who have come before us.” Through features showcasing our brothers leading with distinction in their careers and communities, we aim to inspire by illustrating the profound impact our brothers make in living by the principles of Love, Honor, and Truth.

As you explore this issue, we hope you are moved by the remarkable achievements of the Legion of Honor and its members. Our cover feature chronicles the life and careers of Sigma Nu Hall of Fame brothers Larry and David O’Reilly (Drury) and the nearly 70-year legacy of O’Reilly Auto Parts. You'll also hear from Brother Dillon Basse (Jacksonville), frontman for the band Flipturn, who shares insights from his career in music and the brothers who helped support his early efforts. Learn about the research and studies that prove the powerful impact of fraternity on young men. Hear about a chapter Best Practice, the Commander's Dinner, and receive tips on how to implement a version of the dinner with your own chapter. Celebrate the continued success of the Fraternity’s College of Chapters. Finally, discover the history of the Fraternity’s official flower, The White Rose, including the story behind its selection and the chance actions that kept the original plant from being lost to time.

Additionally, this issue of The Delta spotlights outstanding alumni and chapter news. This issue also includes our Foundation’s annual donor report for the recent calendar year. Recognizing these dedicated and exceptional brothers is a special duty of The Delta. The Legion of Honor is forever grateful to each of them for advancing our honorable Mission.

We hope you enjoy this issue and would love to hear from you with feedback and ideas for stories we should consider for future issues. Letters to the editor, comments, and general feedback can be sent to news@sigmanu.org.

Fraternally,
