The Black & Gold Society is a leadership annual giving society for Sigma Nu alumni, parents, and friends to join to support, protect, strengthen, and advance Sigma Nu Fraternity. Supporter gives a gift of at least $84/month ($1,000 or more during the fiscal year) to the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation.

A: The Black & Gold Society is a leadership annual giving society for Sigma Nu alumni to protect, strengthen, and advance Sigma Nu Fraternity through a gift of at least $84/month ($1,000 or more during the fiscal year) to the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation.

Q: What kind of impact does the Black & Gold Society make for Sigma Nu?

A: The brothers who make up Black & Gold Society are the "Rock" upon which excellence is built for Sigma Nu Fraternity. Gifts from Black & Gold Society members are put to work for the greatest priorities of the Fraternity based on the strategic plan. This support allows us to protect, strengthen, and advance Sigma Nu.

Q: What is the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation?

A: It is the organization that is responsible for securing gifts to meet the mission and vision of Sigma Nu Fraternity. As a 501(c)(3) organization, gifts to the foundation are tax-deductible.

Q: How do I become a member of the Black & Gold Society?

A: You can become a member by giving online, over the telephone, or through the mail at the $1,000+ giving level.

Q: How long does membership last in the Black & Gold Society?

A: Membership is for a fiscal year (July 1 to June 30).

Q: Do Corporate Matching Gifts count toward Black & Gold Society membership?

A: Yes, they count toward the $1,000 gift total. All matching gifts need to be in by the end of the fiscal year (June 30).

Q: How can I pay my Black & Gold Society Membership?

A: You can pay your Black & Gold Society membership either through a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual gift. Just set up your gift payment ahead of time with your credit card.

Q: When will I receive the benefits associated with Black & Gold Society membership?

A: You begin to receive benefits once you join until the end of the fiscal year (June 30).

Q: What are the different levels and benefits of the Black & Gold Society?

A; As a Black & Gold Society Member, you will enjoy:

  • Quarterly update from the Regent of the Fraternity and the Executive Director of Sigma Nu Fraternity to share important news about the Fraternity's programs, people, and progress.
  • Flash Updates about the Fraternity's successes and key initiatives during the year.
  • Invitation to one free webinar each year with a notable Sigma Nu alumnus.
  • A special annual update on the Fraternity's Strategic Plan by Sigma Nu Fraternity leadership.
  • Recognition as a Black & Gold Society member in our annual Honor Roll of Donors, on the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation webpage, and in The Delta magazine.
  • Invitation to a special Black & Gold Society reception at Sigma Nu's Grand Chapter.
  • Black & Gold Society members who give at the $2,500 level or more are offered a book of their choice from a selection of two books written by Sigma Nu alumni authors or a book on ethical leadership.
  • Black & Gold Society members who give at the $5,000 level or more are invited to Lexington, Va. for Black & Gold Weekend, which includes a tour of Sigma Nu Headquarters, Virginia Military Institute, and special workshops/seminars by noted Sigma Nu alumni. All meals are provided during the weekend program.
  • Black & Gold Society members at the $10,000 level and above will receive an invitation to attend College of Chapters, our annual leadership conference for Commanders, and meet some of our most impressive collegiate leaders. This will include paid hotel and common meals at College of Chapters.
  • Black & Gold Society members at the $25,000 level and above will be invited to a private luncheon with members of the Sigma Nu Fraternity leadership team at a location of your choice in the United States or invited to Grand Chapter and receive complimentary lodging. 
  • Black & Gold Society gifts count toward Lifetime Giving Society levels and benefits.

*Corporate matching gifts received by June 30 will apply toward Black & Gold Society membership.
