Campus Snapshot: The Appalachian State University campus is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northwestern North Carolina. Appalachian State has one of the highest elevations of any university in the US east of the Mississippi River at 3,333 feet. Founded in 1899, the University is apart of the UNC system. The Greek community has over 8% of the 16,000 undergraduate population.
Chapter Profile: The Kappa Epsilon Chapter, number 212, was originally founded in 1983 as one of the earliest fraternities founded at Appalachian State. In 2009, the chapter was closed. Since refounding, the colony consistently worked to bring pride and dedication to everything they were involved in, including community service, philanthropic events, intramurals, scholarship and brotherhood.
On February 23, 2013, after just under a year of hard work, the Kappa Epsilon Chapter was rechartered, initiating 44 Knights as refounding fathers. The chartering was a very successful event with nearly 150 people in attendance, including a majority of the original founding fathers from 1983, and Grand Treasurer Lee Perrett.
The Kappa Epsilon Chapter would like to recognize Stewart Allison and the Kappa Epsilon alumni advisory board for pledging their support to Sigma Nu at Appalachian State. The chapter would also like to give a very special thanks to the rest of the alumni, parents, University staff and advisors, as well as the Sigma Nu staff, Grand Treasurer Lee Perrett and the High Council for helping to make the Kappa Epsilon rechartering a success.
