Campus Snapshot: The Washington State University campus is located in the rolling hills of the Palouse in eastern Washington. Founded in 1890, the university is the oldest land-grant university in the state. The campus has a large Greek community with over 12% of its 18,000 undergraduates.
Chapter Profile: The Delta Iota chapter, number 78, was originally founded in 1910 as the second national fraternity at Washington State University. In 2007, the chapter was closed. Since refounding, the colony consistently worked to bring pride and dedication to everything they were involved in, including community service, philanthropic events, intramurals, scholarship and brotherhood.
On October 2, 2010, after a year of hard work, the Delta Iota chapter was rechartered, initiating 24 Knights as founding fathers. The rechartering certificate was presented on the 100th anniversary of the original charter from 1910, which added to the importance of the event. The chartering was a very successful event with nearly 180 people in attendance, including Regent Robert Durham.
The Delta Iota Chapter would like to recognize Fraternity and Sorority Advisor Anita Cory and University President Elson Floyd for pledging their support to Sigma Nu at Washington State. The chapter would also like to give a very special thanks to their alumni and Alumni Advisory Board, parents, Sigma Nu staff, Regent Robert Durham and the High Council for helping to make the Delta Iota rechartering a success.
