Three distinguished brothers were recognized Saturday, April 20th, at the North-American Interfraternity Conference meeting in Washington, D.C.
Past Regent and Sigma Nu Hall of Honor inductee, Michael D. Long (Drury), was awarded the Silver Medal of the North-American Interfraternity Conference. Brother Long received this distinction for his decades of service to the interfraternal community, including his leadership in the joint NIC/NPC Substance Free Housing Task Force in the 1990's.
Past Regent Howard C. Pickett (North Carolina State) was elected to a second term as the Vice Chairman of the North-American Interfraternity Conference.
Alumnus Michael Dilbeck (Texas Christian) received the Laurel Wreath Award for the creation and production of the "Response Ability" educational video. Brother Dilbeck’s video examines the role that bystander behavior plays in misconduct among college student organizations and teaches participants to take affirmative action when confronted with touch situations. To produce the program, Dilbeck brought together a consortium of 30 men's and women's fraternities and sororities, including Sigma Nu, to fund the project and contribute content. The Laurel Wreath Award recognizes the significant positive contribution that the program has already made to the Greek community.
