The Legion of Honor Returns to Alamo City
Excitement builds for the 71st Grand Chapter, which will take place in San Antonio from July 23–27, 2025.
The ties between The Legion of Honor and the city of San Antonio are growing. For the first time since 1996, the Grand Chapter of Sigma Nu will return to the Alamo City in July 2025, and the excitement amongst the area alumni is palpable. In fact, the anticipation has grown to the point that it couldn’t wait. On the evening of August 1, 2024, alumni brothers and guests gathered at the Grand Hyatt – the site of the upcoming 71st Grand Chapter – to celebrate The Legion of Honor.
Regent Maury Gaston (Auburn), Hall of Fame brother Jerry Fields (Texas State), and Division Commander Chris Graham (Lamar) joined host brothers Moulton Dowler (Washington & Lee), Crockett Graham (Texas State), Erich Lenz (Hartford), Randy Mason (North Texas), David Rogers (Mississippi) and Justin Witherspoon (Texas State) for an alumni reception celebrating the brotherhood of Sigma Nu and the upcoming return of the Grand Chapter to San Antonio.
The evening was highlighted by Regent Gaston’s remarks detailing how Sigma Nu and our chapters have been “providing the best collegiate and alumni fraternity experience in America,” and a preview of what to expect at Grand Chapter. Other topics covered in Regent Gaston’s remarks included the Lexington Leadership Institute, the Fraternity’s new emerging leaders’ program, the continued growth of opportunities for alumni connection and engagement, and the ongoing development of LEAD, the Fraternity’s premier, award-winning leadership development program.
“These are just a few of the things that our Fraternity has done to help provide the best fraternity experience in America during the first half of this biennium, and there is more to come,” said Regent Gaston, “If you have not been to a Grand Chapter before, it is a completely unique experience. To participate in our Ritual with over 500 brothers is an experience worth the cost.” Gaston closed with “Our goal for this Grand Chapter is to be the biggest in modern history because ‘everything is bigger in Texas.’”
If the brotherhood and enjoyment of the August 1st reception is an indicator of what can be expected for a Sigma Nu gathering in San Antonio, then the 71st Grand Chapter will be an experience not to be missed.
