I am attending The Virtual Sigma Nu Institute. How do I access the meeting platform?
You will receive an email from fred.dobry@sigmanu.org with a link to the Sigma Nu Institute agenda. The agenda document will include Microsoft Teams meeting links to the General Sessions and Breakout Track sessions.
How do I attend sessions?
Click the Microsoft Teams meeting link within the agenda document that will be emailed to you in advance of the Sigma Nu Institute you are registered to attend. Each General Session and Breakout Track session will have a unique meeting link to use.
For the General Sessions, you will be initially placed in a lobby within Microsoft Teams. You will be automatically transferred into the main meeting room when the session begins.
What technology do I need?
At a minimum, ensure you have a stable high-speed internet connection, high-definition webcam (most standard laptop cameras are sufficient), microphone (headset or other wired headphones with built-in microphone), and professional background in a well-lit location. Attend the event from a laptop or desktop and join through your internet brower. Joining from a smartphone or tablet, or from the Microsoft Teams desktop client, will limit platform functionality.
Okay, I'm in the session. What do I need to know about this video platform?
All General Sessions will be conducted in the Microsoft Teams Town Hall format. Only designated presenters will have video and microphone functionality in the town hall format. All officer breakout sessions will be conducted in the Microsoft Teams Meeting format. All participants will have video and microphone functionality in the meeting format.
When joining your first session, you may be prompted to grant Microsoft Teams permission to access your camera and microphone. Please do so to ensure you can fully participate in the meeting experience.
If you are having any issues with the camera feed not showing properly or your audio or microphone is not working correctly, select settings and then select devices to verify the platform is using the correct camera, microphone, and audio devices. Consult the Microsoft Teams Troubleshooting Guide for additional troubleshooting guidance. If you continue having technical issues, call or text Fred Dobry at (540) 319-1393.
My camera or microphone is not working. What do I do?
Consult the Microsoft Teams Troubleshooting Guide for resolving camera and microphone issues.
What are the recommended system requirements?
Consult the Microsoft Teams system requirements page to make sure your system works with the Microsoft Teams platform. It is recommended you join the Microsoft Teams meeting through your internet browser, not through the desktop Teams client.
