College of Chapters

General Information

The Curriculum

College of Chapters is Sigma Nu Fraternity's annual leadership development conference for Commanders. This intense, interactive program focuses on leadership, skill development, and networking to ensure that each Commander has the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the important duties of their office.

This year's College of Chapters will be held in a virtual format, in consideration of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual format will allow for the continuation of this outstanding educational and developmental program while prioritizing the health and safety of all involved.

To accommodate multiple participant time zones, the 2021 College of Chapters will be conducted in two consecutive sessions. Program A will take place January 3-6, 2021, and Program B will occur January 7-10, 2021. Specific information regarding the Program your chapter has been assigned will be provided via email.

The Commander of every collegiate chapter and colony is expected to attend and actively participate in the full duration of College of Chapters, in keeping with Fraternity policy. Partial attendance does not qualify. If you need to change the Program your chapter has been assigned due to an immovable conflict, please notify the General Fraternity immediately via email at cofc.info@sigmanu.org.

If the Commander of your chapter at the time of College of Chapters will be someone other than the current Commander, it is the current Commander’s responsibility to ensure that the incoming Commander contacts the General Fraternity and registers for College of Chapters by December 7, 2020.

Your registration fee for College of Chapters (excluding travel expense) has already been billed to your chapter as part of the Conclave FeeThe Conclave Fee for each collegiate chapter will be adjusted to reflect the reduction in expense because of the virtual format for the College of Chapters. The adjustment amount will be determined and communicated as soon as possible following the completion of both Programs in January.

Online registration is now live. All registrations are due by December 7, 2020. Any registrations received after this date will be subject to a $75.00 late registration and processing fee. If you are unable to register online, please contact our office for additional support.

Participants should expect to be on video at many points in the College of Chapters experience. Attendees should be in proper attire throughout. Proper attire consists of a collared shirt or sweater, and pants. Please, no hats or caps.

Delegate Changes

All collegiate chapter and colony Commanders are expected to attend College of Chapters. If for any reason, the Commander of your chapter cannot attend, please contact Fred Dobry, College of Chapters Co-Coordinator, to review your options.

Any registration cancellation must be received in writing to cofc.info@sigmanu.org to the attention of Fred Dobry. If you do not attend and do not provide notice of your cancellation, your chapter will not receive credit for attending.

If your chapter fails to attend the College of Chapters, your chapter will be placed on alcohol-free housing status until the next convention, per the Risk Reduction Policy. Additionally, the chapter will be unable to receive a rating of Acceptable or higher in the Brother Development subcategory for this year’s Pursuit of Excellence submission.

Meeting Platform

All sessions will take place on the 2021 College of Chapters virtual meeting platform.
