Strategic Plan

The Strategic Plan of the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation includes three major imperatives, Development, Governance, and Headquarters Campus, along with goals for each imperative. Our Board of Directors and Staff use this plan as a guide when making decisions and plans of action regarding the future of the Educational Foundation.

Development

Through development and execution of comprehensive development and stewardship strategies, the Foundation will secure fundraising results adequate to support its operations and fulfill its Mission.

  1. The Foundation will finalize its comprehensive development audit, the results of which will inform the rebuilding of the Foundation’s Annual Development Plan, by March 15, 2019.
  2. The Foundation will finalize the 2019-2020 Annual Development Plan – to include plans for annual giving, leadership annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, prospect research and management, donor stewardship, and alumni engagement – by May 31, 2019.
  3. The Foundation’s annual fundraising results will be sufficient to support annual operating expenses, including the Annual Development Plan and Headquarters Campus operations, beginning in the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
  4. The Foundation’s fundraising results will be sufficient to retire all debt balances by June 30, 2022.
  5. The Foundation’s fundraising results will be sufficient to provide grant funding to the Fraternity, annually, of at least $100,000, beginning in the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
  6. The Foundation will finalize changes to all giving societies, including the Omega Society, by June 30, 2019.
  7. The Foundation will review and propose recommendations for all existing restricted accounts by June 30, 2020.
  8. The Foundation will provide its input to the Fraternity regarding the Fraternity’s Alumni Commitment Framework and Program on an ongoing basis.

Governance

The Foundation Board of Directors and President will establish and maintain a comprehensive governance structure that ensures best practices and processes for making and implementing decisions to advance achievement of the Foundation’s Mission.

  1. The Foundation will adopt and implement a policy governance model, to include annual review of the President, customized to meet the specific needs of the Foundation by June 30, 2019.
  2. The Foundation will review its governance model at least annually, beginning July 1, 2019.
  3. The Foundation will review and revise as necessary its committee structure, in keeping with its Strategic Plan and governance model, by June 30, 2019.
  4. The Foundation will review and revise as necessary the structure, composition, role, expectations, and requirements of members of the Foundation Board of Directors, by June 30, 2019.
  5. The Foundation will adopt, at least every two years, a comprehensive Strategic Plan that clearly describes the Foundation’s Strategic Imperatives and Goals as determined by the Foundation Board of Directors and President.
  6. The Foundation will produce an annual report for all stakeholders that summarizes the activities, and outcomes thereof, of the Foundation for the prior year, by November of each year.
  7. The Foundation will review and revise as necessary its By-Laws by December 31, 2019.

Headquarters Campus

The Foundation will maintain and preserve a Headquarters Campus that is a source of pride for all stakeholders, reflects the strength and stability of Sigma Nu, and meets the educational and historical needs of Sigma Nu.

  1. The Foundation will have initial plans for construction of the Spears Family Epsilon Epsilon Center for Excellence by March 31, 2019, with final plans by September 30, 2019 and construction to be completed by the end of 2020.
  2. The Foundation will review and revise as necessary the Master Plan for the Headquarters Campus by December 31, 2019.
  3. The Foundation will share the Master Plan for the Headquarters Campus with relevant stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  4. The Foundation will develop and implement a comprehensive property management plan for the Headquarters Campus by June 30, 2020.
