2011 Sigma Nu Institutes
POSTED: 2011-01-13 :: LAST UPDATED: 2011-01-13, 19:00 ET

Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. is proud to announce its plans for the 2011 series of regionalized Sigma Nu Institutes. As we close the books on the fall semester and 2010, Sigma Nu is excited to welcome a new class of young men into its leadership ranks. To assist with the transition process and learning curve that accompanies taking on new positions of chapter leadership, the General Fraternity will be hosting a series of regionalized training Institutes for new and current officers in January, February and March.

In past years, regional training has been focused on both the Fraternity's Values-Based Recruitment (VBR) and LEAD Programs. This spring, the Fraternity is building on the success of past Recruitment and LEAD Institutes, as well as three years worth of regionalized Sigma Nu Institutes. Originally offered as a multi-day training for Commanders, the regionalized Sigma Nu Institutes now offer a more comprehensive curriculum focused, primarily, on training new chapter officers.

Many of our chapter officers have indicated that much of the difficulty in managing their respective position(s) arises from a lack of skill or knowledge regarding policy, organizational structure, management of specific programs (e.g. Pursuit of Excellence, LEAD and VBR), goal setting/strategic planning, accountability and leadership. The purpose of the Sigma Nu Institutes is to properly train specific chapter officers to be effective and successful in their own chapters in these areas. This series of regional Sigma Nu Institutes will be directed at training:

It is expected that each chapter will send these five [5] representatives (Commander, Lt. Commander, Marshal, Recruitment Chairman and LEAD Chairman) to an Institute of their choosing. Alumni participation is also welcome. We encourage the appropriate chapter members to register soon. All locations will include general and specific curriculum for each of the five officers listed above as well as an opportunity for alumni participants to discuss best practices and support services.

There are no costs to attend the Sigma Nu Institutes! They are FREE!

To reserve a spot at an Institute, each officer, who plans to attend, must complete an online registration form. Once registered, additional information will be e-mailed for the specific session they will be attending. We ask that all registrations be submitted at least one week prior to the Institute date to allow for accurate materials counts.
