Chapter & Alumni News for the Summer 2025 Quarterly

Alabama

At the annual Greek Excellence Awards hosted by the University of Alabama’s Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, past Marshal Morgan Beaver was honored as the Outstanding New Member Educator of the Year in recognition of his leadership, dedication, and impact on Theta Chapter and its members. In a separate recognition, Commander Preston Ewing and Brother Trey Lemak were tapped into the 112th class of the Jasons Senior Men’s Honorary, one of the University’s most prestigious honors for rising seniors. Selected for their scholarship, leadership, character, and involvement, they join Brother Riley Giardina of the 111th class in representing Sigma Nu among UA’s top student leaders.

 

Alabama in Huntsville

In late March, brothers from the Mu Beta Chapter spent time volunteering with their local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. During their time at the build, the men helped install house wrap on a home being built for a family in need.

 

Appalachian State

Earlier this semester, Kappa Epsilon Chapter at Appalachian State of Kappa Epsilon hosted Founder Joe Depasqaule, KE #1, and Jerry Adams, KE #18, for an All-Chapter LEAD session. During the alumni visit, Brother Depasquale and Adams shared stories with the collegiate brothers about their time in the chapter helped provide inspiration for the future. They were also able to enjoy a nice dinner with a few of the collegiate members before chapter.

A few weeks later, the brothers welcomed the return of many alumni for a reunion and campus visit, organized by Alumni Relations Chairman Wrenn Gower. The collegiate brothers were extremely happy to welcome back the alumni and thank them for their constant support and encouragement.

 

Arizona

The Epsilon Alpha Chapter at the University of Arizona appeared on ABC news affiliate KGUN9 Tucson in a highlight of the chapter’s efforts to strengthen its relationship with the Rincon Heights neighborhood. Acknowledging past tensions due to frequent social events, Commander Zachary Stults took steps to improve community ties by joining the Rincon Heights Neighborhood Association. The chapter has since organized neighborhood cleanups, participated in community gardening, and hosted a movie night to foster closer ties with their neighbors. With a new ten-year lease, the Epsilon Alpha Chapter members are committed to maintaining and enhancing their positive presence in the neighborhood for years to come.

 

Arizona State

On April 4–5, the Zeta Upsilon Chapter at Arizona State University celebrated 70 years of brotherhood with a weekend full of events. The festivities included a golf tournament, a chapter house reception, and two evening venue buyouts—expertly organized by ZY brothers Dominic Frattura, John Castellano, Chad Clark, and Brian Amster. The celebration brought together over 400 brothers, each carrying with them memories of their time in the chapter and their unwavering Sun Devil pride. It was the largest reunion in Zeta Upsilon's history. The chapter was chartered on March 19, 1955.

In late June, three Sigma Nu brothers were selected to represent the states of Arizona, California, and Montana at the highly selective Western Governors’ Association Leadership Institute, a premier leadership development program designed to build the next generation of public servants and civic-minded changemakers across the West. Brothers Tanner Hauck (Arizona State), Andrew Kalthoff (Arizona State), and Jacob Rasmussen (Montana State) joined a cohort of outstanding young leaders for a multi-day program focused on bipartisan collaboration, principled governance, and regional impact. The institute featured prominent speakers, including sitting and former governors, policy experts, and civic innovators from across the United States.

Fox News senior correspondent and Zeta Upsilon Chapter alumnus Mike Tobin recently summited Mount Everest, undertaking the perilous climb to raise awareness about suicide among U.S. veterans and first responders. During his ascent, he performed the 22 Pushup Challenge in the "death zone" (altitudes above 26,247 feet where oxygen levels are critically low). Brother Tobin credited his wife's support and his rigorous training regimen, which included running with sandbags up Indiana Sand Dunes, for his successful expedition. In a follow-up to Brother Mike Tobin’s (Arizona State) inspiring climb of Mount Everest, the Fraternity sat down for an interview with him to talk about his experience, career, commitment to veterans, and brotherhood in the Legion of Honor. The Fraternity thanks Brother Tobin for taking time out of his busy schedule to share his story with our brotherhood.

 

Arkansas

Brothers from the Gamma Upsilon Chapter at the University of Arkansas supported the Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Food Pantry during Greeks Give Back Week. Greeks Give Back Week is an annual event where fraternity and sorority members participate in community service and fundraising activities to support local organizations and those in need.

 

Arkansas - Fort Smith

This spring, the Nu Alpha Chapter at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith hosted its 7th Annual Sigma Cup, a campus-wide soccer tournament, which raised nearly $3,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Since its inception in 2019, Sigma Cup has grown into one of the largest and most anticipated Greek events on campus. This year’s tournament was part of a larger philanthropy week and drew more than 150 participants, including leaders from every Greek organization, the Student Government Association president, and other key student leaders. Each Sigma Nu brother served as captain of a team, managing recruitment and logistics to ensure a strong turnout.

 

Arkansas at Little Rock

In mid-June, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette profiled Brother Michael Sawaya, a Little Rock native and an alumnus of the Eta Xi Chapter at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Brother Sawaya has built a career as a “fixer,” revitalizing hotels and civic projects across the country. After leading major developments in San Antonio and New Orleans, including the River District and convention center expansion, he now serves as president and CEO of the Audubon Nature Institute. Known for his integrity, optimism, and deep faith, Sawaya sees this role as the culmination of a life spent building, leading, and giving back.

Eta Xi Chapter alumnus Brother Devinder Bhatia has been appointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to the Texas Medical Board for a term through April 2031. A renowned cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon in Houston, Dr. Bhatia is the founder and CEO of Southeast Texas Cardiovascular and serves as chief of cardiovascular surgery at HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball. In addition to his medical leadership, he actively supports several civic organizations, including The Health Museum and the Houston Symphony. Dr. Bhatia is pictured speaking at the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston, where he was recognized as a Guest of Honor.

 

Auburn

Congratulations and Hi Rickety to Beta Theta Chapter alumnus Bill Wakefield, who was honored as Calhoun County’s Citizen of the Year by The Anniston Star on February 4. A prominent figure in the Anniston, Alabama community, Brother Wakefield has held leadership roles on numerous boards and is well-known for his dedication to local service. His family’s businesses, Wakefield’s, Martin’s, and Charming Oaks, have served communities across Alabama and northwest Georgia for over 100 years, employing hundreds and offering quality apparel and goods. Two collegiate members of the Beta Theta Chapter have been selected as Plainsmen for the 2025–26 academic year, a highly competitive honor and one of the most prestigious student leadership roles at Auburn University. Plainsmen serve as the official hosts of the University, both on campus and at events across the country. Representing Sigma Nu this year are Walker Wilcox, a rising junior from Mobile majoring in Honors College Mechanical Engineering, and Tyler Ricks, a rising senior from Albany, Georgia, majoring in Civil Engineering. They follow in the footsteps of past Plainsman and former Recruitment Chairman, Jackson Windham.

The 18th annual Travis L. Rabren Foundation Golf Tournament was held on Monday, April 28, at Moore’s Mill Golf and Country Club. Sigma Nu had a strong showing at the tournament, which raised over $150,000 for local charities, bringing the Foundation’s total charitable giving to more than $1.3 million. The event honors the legacy of Brother Travis L. Rabren, a beloved former Commander of the Beta Theta Chapter. In 2008, the chapter established the Travis L. Rabren Servant Leadership Award in his memory. This year’s recipient is Brother Charles St. Pierre, a former Beta Theta Chaplain and a past president of Auburn’s Inter-Fraternity Council.

 

Ball State

Sigma Nu Fraternity proudly congratulates Theta Nu Chapter alumnus Brother Bob Kaspar on being named a 2025 Award of Distinction recipient by Ball State University. In recognizing Brother Kaspar for the award, the University’s Miller College of Business had this to say, “Bob Kaspar is a powerful example of what it means to lead with both excellence and purpose. A 1981 graduate of Ball State, Bob has built and led several successful wealth management firms, most recently growing Windsor Wealth Management from $200 million to nearly $2 billion in assets. Beyond his business success, Bob is a dedicated community leader, having served on boards for Indiana Humanities, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and now as chair of the Ball State Foundation’s Finance and Investment Committee. We’re proud to celebrate Bob Kaspar as a 2025 Award of Distinction recipient!” Congratulations and Hi Rickety to Brother Kaspar on this well-deserved honor.

 

Bowling Green State

The Epsilon Chi Alumni Chapter held its annual golf outing the week of March 24–28 in Jacksonville, Fla., drawing more than 20 Brothers for a week of fellowship and friendly competition. Special thanks were extended to Brother Dick Schultz for organizing the event and to Brother Jim Sanders for coordinating all golfing arrangements. The outing featured a strong turnout and plenty of brotherhood on and off the course. Bradley

On April 28, the brothers of the Zeta Phi Chapter at Bradley University were honored by the university’s Interfraternity Council with the “Philanthropy of the Year” award. This year, Zeta Phi Chapter raised $20,800 during its annual Gameball philanthropy event, which was donated to the OSF Children’s Hospital- Almost Home Kids Foundation.

 

Butler

In early April, the brothers of the Epsilon Mu Chapter at Butler University participated in and volunteered their time with the Butler Out of the Darkness Walk. The Out of the Darkness Walk is the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's (AFSP) signature student fundraising event, designed to engage youth and young adults in the fight to prevent suicide, the third leading cause of death among people ages 15-24. This year’s event was organized by the Butler Chapter of AFSP and AFSP Indiana.

 

Cal Poly Pomona

In mid-May, alumni brothers from the Kappa Gamma Chapter and its predecessor, Pi Sigma Chi, gathered for the Annual Pi Sigma Chi/Sigma Nu luncheon with the members of the Kappa Gamma Colony. With over 50 years of brotherhood at Cal Poly Pomona, the brothers enjoyed the opportunity to share time together and reflect on the chapter’s legacy. A special shout-out and Hi Rickety to Brother Jordan Wu, who was named “Alumnus of the Year” during the event.

 

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

On April 10, the brothers of the Kappa Pi Chapter at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo delivered a check to Jack’s Helping Hand for $27,347.31, an impressive amount raised during the chapter’s 10th annual Ducky Derby fundraiser. This year’s contribution brings the chapter's total donations to Jack’s Helping Hand to over $125,000 over the past decade.

 

Cal State LA

On April 28, the Eta Phi Chapter at Cal State LA brought to a close their annual Nu Games philanthropy week. Over the course of the week, the chapter hosted competitions and engagement opportunities for campus student organizations, raising over $2,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

 

Carnegie Mellon

Brothers from the Delta Sigma Chapter at Carnegie Mellon University are celebrating the success of their 2025 Buggy teams. Buggy, an annual student-led relay race, is one of Carnegie Mellon's longest-held traditions. The race, officially known as "Sweepstakes," partners designers, engineers, mechanics, and athletes together to produce a buggy, an aerodynamic vehicle with no engine. The chapter, which also organizes a women’s team, saw a trophy-winning placement in this year’s competition.

 

Central Oklahoma

On April 5, the Mu Tau Chapter participated in UCO’s annual Big Event, joining students across campus in a day of community service. The chapter organized two service teams—one assisted with preparations for a local 5K run, while the other helped clean and refresh Alpha Phi Alpha’s Educational Building.

 

Charleston

At the College of Charleston’s 2025 Student Achievement, Involvement, and Leadership (S.A.I.L.) Awards on April 17, three brothers from the Iota Rho Chapter were honored for their outstanding contributions to the Fraternity and campus community. Congratulations to: Sam Cutinelli – IFC President of the Year, Max Kudlov – IFC New Member of the Year, and David Byrd – Greek Scholar of the Year.

 

Colorado State

On April 27, brothers from the Delta Rho Chapter at Colorado State University partnered with the university’s Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement (S.L.I.C.E) office for an opportunity to engage in community service. The brothers were able to assist with several projects around Fort Collins, Colorado.

 

Columbus State

On April 10, the Mu Xi Chapter at Columbus State University teamed up with the CSU chapter of Phi Mu for the second annual “Mu and Snu Madness” dodgeball tournament. The event raised funds in support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network.

 

Delaware

On April 28, brothers from the Delta Kappa Proposed Chapter at the University of Delaware got together at Sean’s House, a Delaware safe haven offering mental health resources, for the group's first Gather & Grow event. Together, the members shared a meal while listening to their peer mentors talk about the story behind Sean’s House and the importance of mental health.

 

Drury

Over the course of April 7-12, brothers from the Epsilon Beta Chapter at Drury University participated in the 2025 Greek Service Week. The brothers joined members of the Drury University Greek-letter community to complete service projects around Springfield, Missouri.

 

Duquesne

The Kappa Delta Chapter at Duquesne University raised an impressive $24,333 at the 18th Annual White Rose Ball in support of American Gold Star Mothers, a nonprofit honoring mothers who have lost children in military service. The White Rose Ball, a cherished campus tradition, featured a keynote speaker, plated dinner, raffles, and the crowning of the White Rose Queen. To date, the chapter has raised nearly $200,000 in support of this meaningful cause.

 

Eastern Illinois

Congratulations to Lambda Gamma Chapter brother Drew Smith, who was recognized as the 2025 IFC Chapter President of the Year by the EIU Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

 

Eastern Kentucky

The Theta Theta Chapter at Eastern Kentucky University hosted a successful 2nd Annual Walk A Mile event on April 15, raising $1,825 for Hope’s Wings Foundation. The event drew over 200 students, staff, and community members and was co-hosted by the Eta Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Delta Omicron Chapter of Kappa Delta. Attendees enjoyed complimentary food and refreshments, including wings, burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, mac and cheese, popcorn, slushies, bundt cakes, and more.

The Theta Theta Chapter at Eastern Kentucky University was honored with several awards this spring, recognizing the outstanding efforts of chapter brothers in service, leadership, and academic excellence. At the 2025 Student Excellence Awards, the chapter received the Colonel Community Service Award for Groups and RSO Collaboration of the Year Award. Individual honors went to Brandon Dearing for Excellence in Service and Colin McGowan for IFC RSO Event of Service. Additional nominations included Connor Ogden for President of the Year, Griffin Parrish for the Kelly Hardy & Caleb Dunn Award, and Brandon Dearing for Fraternity Member of the Year. At the 2025 Greek President’s Ball, the chapter earned further recognition with the Academic Programming Award, Community Service Award, Philanthropy Award, and Living the Ritual Award, presented to Brandon Dearing.

 

Eastern Washington

Brothers of the Theta Lambda Chapter at Eastern Washington University volunteered their time with the 2nd Harvest Food Bank throughout the Spring Quarter. In early April, the brothers packed over 9,000 pounds of oatmeal for kids’ breakfast programs. Later in the quarter, the brothers returned to the 2nd Harvest and packed another 3,000 pounds of pears for families in need.

Congratulations to Theta Lambda Chapter brother Nicholas Damiani. Brother Damiani was selected by EWU as the 2025 IFC Fraternity Member of the Year.

 

Florida

This past April, Epsilon Zeta Chapter alumnus Brother Dalton Nichols helped lead Team USA to a world title at the WSSA 2025 World Sport Stacking Championships in Switzerland. Competing in the Timed 3-6-3 Relay event, the four-man team clinched first place with an impressive time of 12.934 seconds—securing their second consecutive world title after a previous win at the 2024 championships in Orlando. Brother Nichols also captured individual gold in the 3-3-3 event in his age division with a time of 1.633 seconds. Dalton, who has 2 Junior Olympic records and 9 Junior Olympic titles, is currently the state record holder for Florida in all five events in sport stacking. He is a 4-time Guinness World Record holder in the Timed 3-6-3 Relay. 

Congratulations to Epsilon Zeta brother Chris Cobb on being recognized as the University of Florida’s Greek Person of the Year. This prestigious honor reflects Chris’s outstanding service, leadership, and impact not only within Epsilon Zeta Chapter, but throughout the entire Greek community. His dedication to upholding the values of Sigma Nu and setting a strong example for others has left a lasting mark.

 

Furman

Despite battling rainy weather, the brothers of the Kappa Chi Chapter at Furman University held another successful car wash fundraiser on April 10 in support of the Ava Claire DeVine Foundation. The event raised over $750 to help advance the foundation’s mission of providing aid to victims of sex trafficking.

 

Georgia

On Saturday, March 29, Jam for Cam hosted its sixth annual music festival in downtown Athens, marking the city’s largest street event since 1998. The festival united over 15,000 attendees in a shared mission to raise awareness and support for melanoma research and prevention. This year’s event set a new fundraising record, generating more than $500,000. Headlining the main stage was internationally acclaimed band Milky Chance, joined by Penelope Road, Congress the Band, and The Gringos—all of whom drew energetic crowds and added to the festival’s vibrant atmosphere. Founded in memory of Mu Chapter brother Cameron Fearon, Jam for Cam continues to grow in impact and reach. The organization is led by members of Cameron’s pledge class, with Mu Chapter brothers making up the majority of the executive team. Their dedication, alongside contributions from community members, has helped propel the festival to new heights. Since its founding in 2018, Jam for Cam has raised over $1.3 million to benefit the Melanoma Research Foundation, Camp Carolina, and the Knox Martin Foundation for Brain Cancer Research.

 

Georgia State

Congratulations to Eta Gamma Chapter Brother Jason Anavitarte on being elected Majority Leader of the Georgia State Senate. Jason, who represents Georgia’s 31st District, was selected by his Senate colleagues to lead the Republican caucus for the 2025–2026 term. A longtime public servant and former local school board member, Jason has served in the Senate since 2020.

 

Georgia Tech

On April 19, brothers from the Gamma Alpha Chapter at Georgia Tech once again participated in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Out of the Darkness Walk. Thanks to the leadership of Philanthropy Chairman Sebastian Ortiz, the chapter had one of its strongest showings to date and raised nearly $10,000 to support suicide prevention resources, advocacy, and outreach. This cause remains especially meaningful to the chapter as they walk in honor of Brother Andrew Collins.

 

Gettysburg

On April 17, the brothers of the Zeta Sigma Chapter at Gettysburg College participated in the annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event, donning high heels and walking a mile around campus to raise awareness about sexual assault. With one in five women experiencing sexual assault during their college years, the chapter recognizes the vital role men can play in fostering awareness, education, and prevention. Through their participation, the brothers demonstrated their commitment to being allies and advocates for a safer campus community.

On April 23, the collegiate brothers of the Zeta Sigma Chapter welcomed alumnus Jim Todd back to the chapter house for an engaging afternoon of mentorship and conversation. During his visit, Brother Todd led a thoughtful discussion on the importance of being an agent for effective change, drawing from his professional background in political science and law. The chapter was grateful for the opportunity to learn from his insights and experiences, and to strengthen the bond between generations of Zeta Sigma brothers.

 

Houston

Over spring break, brothers and candidates from the Zeta Chi Chapter volunteered with the Houston chapter of Habitat for Humanity for their annual Women Build event. This impactful initiative focuses on building safe, affordable housing for women and children, groups most often affected by inadequate living conditions. The event offered a meaningful opportunity for both women and men to come together and take action in support of their local community. 

The University of Houston recently profiled Zeta Chi Chapter alumnus Alexander Magyari, a former Chapter Commander, who is making headlines with his groundbreaking research in quantum cryptography. Set to earn his bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. from UH, Magyari recently published a paper on hardware-optimized encryption methods that improve speed, efficiency, and security, key advancements as quantum computing continues to evolve. His work places him at the forefront of efforts to protect sensitive data in the digital age.

 

Illinois State

In late April, the Theta Rho Chapter at Illinois State University hosted a successful food drive benefiting Midwest Food Bank, collecting over 400 canned goods to support individuals and families in need.

The Theta Rho Chapter Alumni Golf Outing on May 3 was a tremendous success, with over 70 brothers in attendance for a day of golf and reconnection. The chapter extends congratulations to scramble champions—Drew Friedrich, Kyle Vogt, Carter Callahan, and Sam Carver, who posted a winning score of 65 (-7). Shoutouts to Austin Cordyn for winning the long drive and Bob Carse for closest to the pin. A special thank you goes to Brother Michael Cassidy for organizing an unforgettable event celebrating the alumni who helped shape Theta Rho Chapter’s legacy.

Congratulations to our brothers at the Illinois State Chapter for their impressive showing at this year’s IFC Scholarship Banquet. The chapter took home three awards: IFC Scholarship of the Year, Academic Chair of the Year (awarded to Abin Thomas), and recognition for achieving a GPA above the IFC men’s average.

 

Iowa State

The new Gamma Sigma Chapter house is getting a major upgrade this summer thanks to the combined efforts of alumni and collegiate members. Renovations have touched nearly every part of the house, from outdoor spaces and common areas to hallways and individual rooms. The recruitment committee has also been busy preparing for fall, hosting tours, and meeting with incoming students across Iowa. Congratulations to Brother Fritz Raab on the publication of his latest book, RF and Microwave Power Amplifiers. Brother Raab was initiated into the Gamma Sigma Chapter at Iowa State University in 1965. A highly accomplished engineer, he is the Chief Engineer and Owner of Green Mountain Radio Research and holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from ISU. He is a Fellow of IEEE and RCA, coauthor of Solid State Radio Engineering, and the recipient of numerous professional honors. Brother Raab has been instrumental in preserving and revitalizing Gamma Sigma. He led the formation of the Gamma Sigma Alumni Chapter following the chapter’s closure in 1999 and played a key role in the chapter’s return in 2024.

 

Jacksonville State

On April 5, brothers of the Iota Lambda Chapter at Jacksonville State University gathered in Jacksonville, Alabama, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the chapter’s chartering. The milestone occasion brought together esteemed alumni and special guests, including Regent Maury Gaston (Auburn), Past Regent Joe Gilman (Morehead State), and Division Commander Hamp Dye (Mississippi). The celebration honored the chapter’s rich history and the legacy of its members, including those who have entered Chapter Eternal. A moving video presentation and heartfelt alumni speeches paid tribute to the brotherhood’s lasting impact over five decades. The evening culminated with special remarks from Regent Gaston and the formal presentation of the 50th Anniversary Certificate to representatives of the Iota Lambda Chapter. Among those accepting the certificate on the chapter’s behalf were Sigma Nu Educational Foundation Life Director Ralph Moore, Past Division Commander John Awbrey, and current collegiate Commander Jose Orozco. The Fraternity extends a hearty Hi Rickety to the brothers of Iota Lambda on this historic occasion. The chapter was originally chartered on April 5, 1975.

 

James Madison

Congratulations to the brothers of the Iota Delta Chapter at James Madison University for receiving the 2024–2025 SOAR Award for Fraternity Chapter of the Year. This prestigious recognition honors excellence in academics, philanthropy, member development, and social responsibility.

 

Jefferson

Over the weekend of April 12, brothers from the Mu Pi Chapter embarked on a pilgrimage to Lexington to visit Sigma Nu Fraternity Headquarters. Approximately 30 chapter members made the journey, taking part in a memorable experience that blended education, tradition, and brotherhood. During their visit, the chapter received guided tours of the Fraternity’s headquarters and the Virginia Military Institute campus. The group also participated in a LEAD session facilitated by General Fraternity staff member Reagan Basil (Furman). A highlight of the weekend was the initiation of Mu Pi’s newest candidate class, held in the historic Alpha Room.

 

Kansas

Nu Chapter at the University of Kansas had an outstanding evening at the 34th annual Sorority and Fraternity Life Awards, proudly taking home the honor of 2024–2025 Chapter of the Year. The chapter was also recognized with several individual awards, showcasing the exceptional leadership and dedication of its members. Brother Tate Nicholson received the David A. Ambler Outstanding Campus Leader Award, while Squire Smith was named IFC Outstanding SFL New Member. Additionally, Don Romano was honored as IFC Outstanding House Director of the Year.

 

Kennesaw State

White Rose Week 2025 was a tremendous success for the Iota Pi Chapter at Kennesaw State University. The chapter combined fun and philanthropy to make a meaningful impact. Throughout the week, the chapter hosted a variety of engaging events, including Pie-A-SNU, a Car Wash, and a Car Smash, all in support of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring every child has a bed to sleep in.

 

Kentucky

Over the weekend of March 29-30, 25 brothers from the Gamma Iota Chapter at the University of Kentucky took to the dance floor for DanceBlue, a 24-hour marathon fundraiser supporting the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic at the Markey Cancer Center. With no sitting or sleeping allowed for the 24 hours, the men danced and cheered throughout the duration of the fundraiser, helping contribute to the university's total of $2,305,274 for Kentucky’s kids.

 

Lamar

In late March, alumni and collegiate members of the Zeta Psi Chapter at Lamar University gathered for the chapter’s annual Alumni Golf Tournament at Bayou Din Golf Course. The event provided a fantastic opportunity for brothers across generations to reconnect, enjoy some friendly competition, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood.

 

Lexington Triad

Over the weekend of May 3, the leaders of the Lexington Triad convened in Roanoke and Lexington, Virginia, for the fourth joint meeting of their boards of directors. The gathering offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships among the leadership of the three fraternities while celebrating our shared founding history in Lexington. Joint sessions held on Friday and Saturday focused on key topics of interfraternal importance, including the ongoing need for research into the value of the fraternity experience, emerging trends in higher education, and the Triad’s historical leadership within the interfraternal community. The Lexington Triad includes Alpha Tau Omega, founded at Virginia Military Institute in 1865; Kappa Alpha Order, founded at Washington College (now Washington and Lee University) in 1865; and Sigma Nu Fraternity, founded at Virginia Military Institute in 1869.

 

Louisiana at Lafayette

Congratulations to Eta Nu Chapter Brothers Ted Menard, Holden Harrell, Braden Tregre, and Aidan Abbott for being recognized and awarded $3,050 in scholarships at the Moody College of Business Administration Scholarship Reception.

 

LSU

On April 26, the Phi Chapter at Louisiana State University hosted its annual Rock for Reclaimed music festival, an event established in 2022 to raise funds for the Reclaimed Project. Reclaimed is a nonprofit organization based in Jackson, Mississippi, that supports vulnerable children and communities in the Mississippi Delta and Lesotho, Africa. Its mission is to combat poverty, injustice, and broken systems through sustainable, Christ-centered solutions that foster growth. A portion of the event’s proceeds also benefited St. Lillian’s Academy, a Baton Rouge school serving children with communication and learning challenges. This year, the chapter raised $74,000 for Reclaimed and St. Lillian’s, surpassing the previous year’s record of $71,252. Planning took place throughout the semester, with the chapter’s philanthropy team working tirelessly to create a meaningful and memorable weekend. Through Venmo drives, banner competitions, sponsorships, give-back nights, and other creative efforts, Rock for Reclaimed 2025 proved to be a resounding success for the chapter and the greater community.

 

Louisiana Tech

In early April, the Eta Zeta Chapter at Louisiana Tech partnered with the Ruston Police Jury for a community-wide cleanup effort. Brothers spent the day picking up trash across the city, contributing to the ongoing effort to keep Ruston beautiful.

Congratulations and Hi Rickety to Eta Zeta Chapter brother Lawson Lillo, who set a new American bench press record at a competition in Reno, Nevada. Competing in the 163-pound weight class, he bench pressed 497 pounds, squatted 618 pounds, and deadlifted 562 pounds. Lawson qualified for Team USA where he will go and compete in Costa Rica in August.

 

Maryland

In late May, alumni brothers from the Delta Phi Chapter at the University of Maryland gathered at Manor Hill Brewery, owned by Delta Phi alumnus Corey Mull. The purpose of the event was to show support for fellow alumnus Eric Cole, founder of the Dandy-Walker Alliance. This vital nonprofit organization is committed to advancing awareness, funding crucial research, and providing essential support for individuals and families affected by Dandy-Walker Syndrome. This complex congenital brain malformation affects the cerebellum and the fluid-filled spaces surrounding it. The event at Brother Mull's beautiful brewery not only provided an excellent opportunity for brothers to reconnect and reminisce but also underscored Sigma Nu's lifelong brotherhood, with brothers from three additional chapters, Delta Alpha (Case Western Reserve), Gamma Lambda (Wisconsin), and Epsilon (Bethany), joining the festivities.

 

Miami University

In early April, members of the proposed chapter at Miami University, part of Sigma Nu’s effort to reestablish the Epsilon Nu Chapter, volunteered with the Cincinnati chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Brothers rolled up their sleeves to assist with framing and concrete work, contributing directly to the construction of a new home for a local family. It was a meaningful opportunity to serve the community while building bonds within the emerging chapter.

 

Minnesota State

Congratulations to Brother Kaden Schafer of the Lambda Delta Chapter at Minnesota State University for being named the 2024 Interfraternity Council Executive Officer of the Year. Kaden has served his chapter with distinction, including in the role of Chaplain, and recently concluded his term as the chapter’s Treasurer. This well-deserved recognition highlights Kaden’s outstanding leadership and commitment to the values of Sigma Nu.

 

Mississippi

On April 8, the Epsilon Xi Chapter at the University of Mississippi hosted its 34th annual Charity Bowl at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, featuring a full-contact football game against Alpha Tau Omega. The event, which began in 1990 in honor of Ole Miss football player Chucky Mullins, raises funds for individuals living with paralysis. This year’s recipient was Hannah Johnston, a teacher from Carthage, Mississippi, who was paralyzed in a January car accident. The event also included a sorority cheer competition and a homecoming-style senior maid ceremony. After months of fundraising, the fraternity raised approximately $335,000, with $275,000 going to Johnston and $30,000 each to the William Magee Center and the Manning Foundation.

 

Mississippi State

On March 29, the Iota Gamma Chapter at Mississippi State University hosted its 2025 Sigma CaNu event. This year’s event was structured as a battleship-style team competition with canoers working together to sink their opponents with buckets of water. Proceeds from the event will go to support Kesem, a charity providing support for children impacted by a parent’s battle with cancer.

This April, in celebration of Sigma Nu’s Founders Month of Service, the Iota Gamma Chapter demonstrated its commitment to the Starkville community by contributing an average of 8 service hours per member. From building bat houses to volunteering at the local library, brothers dedicated their time to meaningful projects that strengthened community ties.

 

Missouri

On Thursday, June 12, Rho Chapter alumni gathered together in St. Louis for an alumni dinner. Among those in attendance were Raymond Rogers, John Duft, Jon Dalton, Tom Kelly, Dave Baker, Rob Clariday, Robert Klang, Spencer Maass, Parker Schenk, Alex Hartanto, Frankie Altgilbers, Rex Wright II, Tony Iannicola, Drew Herzog, Brady Stultz, and Andrew Cannon. The dinner also welcomed current chapter members Tyler Gabel and Joseph Bolten, who had the opportunity to connect with the Rho alumni.

 

Missouri S&T

Gamma Xi Chapter Brother Scott Thompson and his wife Lori recently competed on Season 37 of The Amazing Race, representing their home state of Utah with heart, humor, and humility. As proud parents of eight sons, the Thompsons embraced the challenge with the mantra “We do hard things,” ultimately placing ninth after a dramatic U-Turn in Bali. Throughout the race, they earned a leg win, built meaningful connections with other teams, and showcased their values of faith, kindness, and resilience. Following the conclusion of Season 37’s finale, the Fraternity interviewed Scott and Lori for The Gavel Podcast. During the conversation, Scott and Lori discussed all things The Amazing Race, including their inspiration for applying, the reception they've got since the season aired, and their interest in racing again if they were ever called back for a returners season. Scott also reflects on his membership in the Gamma Xi Chapter and the principles and memories that have stuck with him since his days in the collegiate chapter.

This spring, Missouri S&T profiled Gamma Xi Chapter Brother Nick Graham, a senior in aerospace engineering. Last year, Nick designed, built, and successfully launched a 7-foot liquid-propelled rocket over 1,200 feet into the Mojave Desert sky, an impressive solo project that builds on his work with the university’s Rocket Design Team. Inspired by a lifelong passion for space and supported by internships with Agile Space, Firefly Aerospace, Axiom Space, and the NASA White Sands Test Facility, Nick is well prepared to launch his career in the space industry.

On May 22, Gamma Xi alumni in the St. Louis area continued their bi-monthly tradition of “Thirsty Thursday,” gathering at 2nd Shift Brewing to reconnect and celebrate the bonds of brotherhood. This spring, the Epsilon Theta Chapter at MIT raised $3,020 in support of women’s health through the Cambridge Women’s Center in Cambridge, Mass. The chapter’s contribution included essential items such as tote bags, clothing, and hygiene products. The chapter provided special thanks to Brother Jacob Mercado and his family for their dedication and leadership in coordinating the effort.

 

Montana

Gamma Phi Chapter alumnus Brother Bill Clawson was recently featured in CEOWORLD Magazine for his leadership journey from his Montana roots to becoming CEO of Endeavor Financial Insights LLC. A former All-State wrestler and top scholar, Clawson served as Commander of the Gamma Phi Chapter before joining the family business, Clawson Windows, after graduation. In the profile, Brother Clawson noted the important lessons he learned as a member of Gamma Phi Chapter. “I learned a lot outside the classroom,” he says. “Being part of a fraternity taught me how to lead a group, manage conflict, and build loyalty.”

 

Montana State

Zeta Nu Chapter Brother Dennis Black, a Great Falls High School legend and Montana shot put record holder, is making a remarkable recovery after a life-threatening head injury. After collapsing at home and undergoing emergency brain surgery, including the removal and reattachment of part of his skull, Black spent months relearning basic functions like walking and speaking. With strong support from family and the Great Falls community, he’s now back home, regaining strength and purpose through creative work with his brother. Morehead State

A group of alumni from the Theta Tau Chapter at Morehead State University, along with their wives, gathered in Lexington from April 10–13 for a memorable “mini-reunion.” The group included Steve Hoersting (Theta Tau 1), Drew Crafton, Ed Anderson, Dan Necaise, John Rhodes, Steve Adams, and Joe Gilman, joined by Diane Hoersting, Anna Necaise, Tammy Rhodes, Laurie Adams, and Susan Gilman. Though the Theta Tau Chapter was active from only 1974 to 1998 and initiated around 250 brothers, it produced an impressive legacy, counting among its alumni three Alpha Affiliates, one Athlete of the Year, and a former Regent and Foundation Chairman. During the visit, the group received a comprehensive update on the Fraternity’s current operations from Executive Director Brad Beacham (Texas Christian) and a tour of Headquarters led by Joe Gilman. As a highlight of the visit, the group presented the chapter’s Ritual robes to Brother Beacham to be used in the Alpha Room for ceremonial purposes while the chapter remains dormant. Col. Keith Gibson (Georgia), Grand Historian and Director of Museums at VMI, also provided a special tour of VMI, including stops at the Hall of Valor, Memorial Hall, the Pendleton-Cole House (an early Alpha Chapter meeting place), and the VMI Museum. The visit concluded with a special catered dinner at the Southern Inn, attended by Keith and Pat Gibson, Brad and Jennifer Beacham, and Tim Huerta (Cal State LA), who was in Lexington for other meetings. For several brothers, this was their first return to Lexington in nearly 50 years—a heartfelt opportunity to reconnect with one another and with the place where the Fraternity was founded. The weekend sparked renewed enthusiasm and conversations about organizing another gathering in the future for those unable to attend this time.

 

Mount Union

The Beta Iota Chapter at the University of Mount Union closed out the academic year on a high note, earning its third consecutive Chapter of the Year award from UMU Fraternity and Sorority Life. This recognition highlights the chapter’s continued excellence in leadership, service, and brotherhood.

 

New Hampshire

The Iota Sigma Chapter at the University of New Hampshire made a positive impact in the Durham community throughout April. Early in the month, the chapter hosted its third annual Easter Egg Hunt, an exciting and family-friendly event that also served as a successful drive for food and clothing donations benefiting Gather, a local nonprofit focused on fighting food insecurity.

Later in April, undergraduate members teamed up with Iota Sigma alumni to volunteer once again on a Habitat for Humanity house they had previously helped build. The day was a powerful reminder of the enduring bonds of brotherhood and the chapter’s shared commitment to service.

 

North Carolina State

On March 29, brothers from the Beta Tau Chapter at North Carolina State University volunteered with the Miracle League of the Triangle, spending the day playing baseball with children with special needs. The Miracle League creates inclusive opportunities for kids of all abilities to enjoy the game of baseball, and the chapter was proud to be part of such a meaningful experience. A special congratulations goes to Brother Harrison Rower, who was honored with the Exceptional Buddy Award for his outstanding dedication and support.

Alumni from the Beta Tau Chapter hosted their 44th Annual Oyster Roast and Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 26. More than 150 alumni and guests participated in the 2025 event, which raised approximately $10,000 for the chapter. With 50+ golfers participating, the winning team shot an amazing 18 under-par. The winning team included Brothers Mike Olive, Bill Carver, Donnie Pickett, and Sumner Tate.  However, the real highlight of the tournament was when Brother Robert Boyette made his first hole-in-one on the second hole to secure the closest to the pin prize. His ace was witnessed by Sigma Nu’s Chief Advancement Officer, James Owens (Charleston), who played in the foursome. When recognized for his ace, Brother Boyette said, “For years I have been in a select group of men at our club who have never made a hole-in-one, but their wives have. Well, I’m pleased to announce that I am no longer a member of that group!” (Pictured Left to Right, Beta Tau Alumni Sandy Carter, Robert Boyette, and Steve White).

 

North Georgia

This past year, the Kappa Chapter at the University of North Georgia proudly raised $13,000 for NoOneAlone through its annual Snakebite Alumni Golf Tournament. The event continues to be a cornerstone of the chapter’s philanthropic efforts, bringing together alumni and collegiate brothers to support survivors of domestic violence in the local community.

 

Northern Arizona

Over the weekend of April 26, the Eta Iota Chapter at Northern Arizona University hosted its annual Spring Alumni Picnic and Softball Game, bringing together alumni and collegiate brothers for a day of fun and connection. The event provided a great opportunity to share stories, build relationships, and strengthen the bond between past and present members.

At the university’s Order of Omega Greek Awards Banquet, Eta Iota Chapter Commander Kevin Forrestal was honored as IFC President of the Year, in recognition of his outstanding leadership and dedication to both Sigma Nu and the broader NAU Greek community. This marks the second consecutive year an Eta Iota Commander has received this prestigious award.

Congratulations to Eta Iota Chapter Brother James Malito of the Eta Iota Chapter for being awarded the prestigious Gold Axe Award, an honor presented to only the top 1% of graduating seniors. This award recognizes James’s exceptional dedication to the university through service, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and academic excellence. During his time at NAU, James maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA, earned six business management and marketing certificates, and was recognized four times with “Best of the Best” honors at NAU’s HRM Career Fair. He also served in eight chapter leadership roles and led the university’s Family Weekend fundraiser, Casino Night, which broke attendance and revenue records by raising $30,000 in just three hours to support scholarships for HRM majors.

 

Northwestern

In an interview with The Daily Northwestern, Gamma Beta Chapter alumnus U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Ill.) reflected on how his time at Northwestern and in Sigma Nu helped shape his leadership style in Congress. Now serving his sixth term representing Illinois’ 10th District, Schneider credits his engineering and MBA education, as well as his extracurricular activities, for teaching him to lead with responsibility, think analytically, and build consensus, skills he applies daily in public service.

 

Oklahoma

This spring, the Delta Epsilon Chapter at the University of Oklahoma was honored with one of the university’s highest awards for fraternity leadership, the President’s Cup. Presented to only one fraternity with over 75 members, this prestigious recognition was accepted by past and current chapter Commanders Austin Mears and Owen Cunningham. The award reflects the chapter’s outstanding leadership, dedication to service, and strong presence on campus.

 

Oklahoma State

Hi Rickety and congratulations to Epsilon Epsilon Chapter alumnus Brother Aaron Sizemore on being named an Outstanding Young Alumnus by Oklahoma State University’s Spears School of Business. Aaron is being recognized for his impressive leadership as managing director and head of national energy finance at East West Bank, as well as his continued service to others through causes like Folds of Honor North Texas. The Fraternity also extend our heartfelt congratulations to his wife, Brittany Sizemore, a sister of Pi Beta Phi, who is being honored alongside Aaron for her exceptional career as vice president of marketing and strategic business development at ISN and her commitment to philanthropy and community leadership. Aaron and Brittany will be recognized at the Spears Business Hall of Fame banquet this fall.

On April 25, the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter hosted its annual Alumni Golf Tournament at Lakeside Memorial Golf Course, drawing a strong turnout of alumni and collegiate members. The weather was perfect for a day of golf, camaraderie, and reconnecting with brothers. Congratulations to Bob O’Neal, Drew Palmer, Brayden Buck, and Hunter Roper for taking home the first-place trophy. Thanks to the incredible support of Epsilon Epsilon alumni, the event raised an impressive $20,105 to support the chapter’s upcoming recruitment efforts. 

Epsilon Epsilon Chapter hosted another successful Temple Classic Tournament, a three-day sand volleyball event that brought the campus and community together for a great cause. Despite challenging weather throughout the weekend, the tournament raised an impressive $22,500.  Proceeds from the event will benefit Oklahoma Project Woman, a nonprofit organization supporting individuals affected by breast cancer.

 

Old Dominion

On April 12th, the new brothers of the Eta Chi Chapter at Old Dominion University, along with Marshal Eli Burlingame, volunteered with the Elizabeth River Project at the Paradise Creek Nature Park in Portsmouth, Virginia. The men cleared out overgrown wildflower patches, widened walking paths to accompany the park’s growth, and learned about the Elizabeth River Project's mission and involvement at the Paradise Creek Nature Park. 

 

Oregon

Pie-A-SNU, hosted by the Gamma Zeta Chapter at the University of Oregon, was a lighthearted philanthropy event with a powerful purpose. Held on March 6, the fundraiser invited students, faculty, and community members to donate for the chance to pie a brother in the face, all in support of the Oregon Cancer Foundation. The event blended humor with heartfelt impact, raising over $7,000 for the Foundation, which provides financial assistance and vital resources to individuals and families affected by cancer in Lane County.

 

Oregon State

The Delta Tau Chapter at Oregon State University hosted its annual Spring Alumni Weekend and Golf Tournament May 16-18, bringing together brothers from across generations for a memorable weekend of connection, celebration, and fraternity. The weekend kicked off with a Friday night gathering at Block 15 Brew Pub in Corvallis, where alumni and collegiate brothers reconnected over stories and good cheer. Saturday featured house tours, the 2025 DT Alumni Chapter Annual Meeting, and a series of updates and recognitions—including awards for graduating seniors, and special presentations for Brother Jon Parsons and Doug Penney for their contributions to Delta Tau Chapter. Sunday concluded with the Joe and Peggy Wood Memorial Golf Tournament at Trysting Tree Golf Course, honoring the legacy and dedication of Brother Joe Wood and his wife Peggy. The chapter extends heartfelt thanks to all who attended and encourages everyone to join the next gathering in Hillsboro, Oregon, this August. On April 22, at the Rhodes College Campus Life Awards, the Epsilon Sigma Chapter proudly celebrated the achievements of two outstanding brothers. Brother Dylan Morris was inducted into the Rhodes Hall of Fame and received the prestigious Estelle R. Cone Award for his exceptional service through the Kinney Program. Additionally, Brother Jude Shive was honored as Fraternity Member of the Year, recognizing his leadership and contributions to the campus community. Congratulations to both brothers for representing Sigma Nu with distinction.

 

San Diego State

Sigma Nu at San Diego State University has been named Most Improved Chapter by the Interfraternity Council, an incredible honor made even more impressive by the fact that the chapter is still operating as a proposed chapter. This year, Eta Kappa raised over $20,000 for philanthropy, contributed more than 1,300 hours of community service, and welcomed the largest new member class in both SDSU and Sigma Nu history. Additionally, Sigma Nu now holds the most IFC leadership positions of any fraternity on campus, with Brothers Tyler Wallace (pictured far right) serving as VP of Recruitment, Dane Lee (pictured far left) as VP of Health and Wellness (after winning the position in a successful appeal), and Brandon Cannedy (pictured second to right) as VP of Leadership Development.

 

San Jose State

The Zeta Iota Chapter is officially back at San Jose State University. Over the weekend of April 25-27, the collegiate chapter and alumni celebrated the return of the chapter’s charter with several special events and activities, including a Friday alumni reception, Saturday Breakfast with the Regent, and Sunday Affirmation of Knighthood Ceremony for graduating seniors. The two marquee events were the Initiation Ceremony, officially knighting the dedicated collegiate members who have worked tirelessly to help restore the chapter’s charter, and a celebratory banquet featuring remarks by collegiate officers, alumni volunteers, and university administrators. The banquet culminated with the presentation of the chapter’s charter to the collegiate chapter by Regent Maury Gaston (Auburn). Special thanks to Zeta Iota alumni volunteers Lazaro Brito Arroyo, Tim Blackmun, Daniel Peterson, Alfredo Cuellar, Michael Meissner, John McLemore, Dino Certa, Mike Cummins, Tim Robb, and Ken Verdoia and General Fraternity staff members Chaysen Babcock (Northern Arizona) and Mac McNeilly (Huntingdon), who played a critical role in supporting the collegiate members, now brothers, as they worked toward this special moment for the Zeta Iota Chapter.

On May 7, the Zeta Iota Chapter was honored as Best Fraternity of the Year at the 14th Annual Student Leadership Gala, a prestigious event recognizing outstanding student organizations among the university’s 400+ RSOs. With over 300 students in attendance and more than 40 awards presented, Sigma Nu stood out among its peers for exemplifying leadership, brotherhood, academic excellence, and meaningful impact on campus and in the community. During the ceremony, university administrators praised the chapter, stating, “This year’s recipient has set the standard, raising the bar for what it means to be a fraternity in today’s world.”

 

Sewanee

On April 12, the Beta Omicron Chapter at Sewanee: The University of the South took part in the annual Blue Monarch Field Day in Pelham, Tennessee, an event dedicated to bringing joy to children whose mothers have experienced domestic abuse. Now in its third year supporting Blue Monarch, Beta Omicron has made the organization its signature philanthropic partner, with members actively engaged year-round in events such as the Blue Monarch Christmas Party and Tiger Trot 5K. Eight chapter members, including Social Chairman Jack Quillin, volunteered alongside 125 others, which included Sewanee’s IFC and the university’s director of Greek life. Chapter Advisor Phil Woodlief and Philanthropy Advisor Kathy Henslee also attended. The chapter’s continued commitment to Blue Monarch reflects its broader philanthropic goals and dedication to service during the Fraternity’s Founders’ Month of Service.

 

Shenandoah

The University of South Carolina is renaming its College of Arts and Sciences in honor of Delta Chapter alumnus Peter McCausland, founder of Airgas Inc., following his record-breaking $75 million donation, the largest gift in USC history. The renamed McCausland College of Arts and Sciences will support expanded scholarships, faculty positions, research initiatives, and student opportunities across the university’s departments. USC President Michael Amiridis praised the gift for its transformational impact, saying it marks “a defining moment” that will benefit generations of students to come.

On April 9, brothers from Delta Chapter partnered with EmmanuWheel to build a much-needed wheelchair ramp for a local disabled veteran.

 

Southeast Missouri State

The Mu Kappa Chapter at Southeast Missouri State University had a standout year, earning top honors in multiple categories during the 2024–25 school year. The chapter was awarded 1st place in Academic Achievement, Membership Education and Development, Civic and Campus Engagement, and Fraternal Excellence, along with honorable mentions in Chapter Management and Risk Management/Harm Reduction. These accomplishments culminated in Mu Kappa being named Chapter of the Year at SEMO. Several brothers also received individual accolades: Luke Bell was named Junior of the Year, Logan Mizicko received the Individual Service Award, Trent Dye was runner-up for Sophomore of the Year, Andrew Wildhaber was runner-up for IFC Man of the Year, and Grant Breece was named IFC President of the Year. Additionally, Katie Krodinger was recognized as IFC Advisor of the Year.

 

Southern Methodist

The Iota Theta Chapter at Southern Methodist University is proud to share that it has been named Interfraternity Council Chapter of the Year at SMU. Hi Rickety to the chapter brothers on this recognition and for their commitment to upholding the values of Sigma Nu.

 

Stetson

At this year’s Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards, the Delta Mu Chapter at Stetson University was honored with the Diversity and Inclusion Award, recognizing the chapter’s commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community. Additionally, congratulations go to Brother Jack Mertz, who was named Fraternity Member of the Year for his outstanding leadership and contributions.

 

Texas Christian

On May 2, Texas Christian University celebrated Brother Victor Boschini (Mount Union) with BoschiniFest, honoring his extraordinary 22-year tenure as Chancellor. A visionary in higher education and a lifelong champion of the fraternity and sorority experience, Brother Boschini has now assumed the role of Chancellor Emeritus, continuing his dedicated service to TCU. A two-term Commander of the Beta Iota Chapter at the University of Mount Union, Brother Boschini is a Sigma Nu Hall of Fame inductee, NIC Gold Medal recipient, and protégé of Brother Herman B Wells (Indiana), a fellow Sigma Nu Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor inductee. His legacy includes decades of transformative leadership, both within higher education and the Fraternity. A loyal supporter of the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation and proud member of the Omega Society, Brother Boschini remains a tireless advocate for the Lambda Epsilon Chapter at TCU. His unwavering commitment to the values of Love, Honor, and Truth continues to inspire. Hi Rickety to Brother Boschini!

It was a big weekend for the brothers of the Lambda Epsilon Chapter during the Charles Schwab Challenge. Brother Sawyer Sales had the incredible opportunity to caddy for PGA Tour golfer Michael Block (pictured), while Kevin Keener contributed to the tournament's success as part of the sales team. Aaron Stuart supported operations, and Steve Guyette and Will Kopp helped manage the pro shop. The chapter is proud of these brothers for their professionalism and strong representation of Sigma Nu at a premier sporting event.

The Lambda Epsilon Chapter is proud to have been named TCU’s 2024–2025 Chapter of the Year, marking the third consecutive year the chapter has received this top honor. In addition to this recognition, the chapter was awarded Outstanding Philanthropic Efforts for its Movember campaign, which raised nearly $47,000 in support of men’s health initiatives. This impactful effort brought together brothers and the campus community for a powerful cause. The chapter also celebrates Brother Lawson Ewing (pictured far right), who was honored as Most Outstanding Individual within the IFC and FSL community. Lawson’s leadership, service, and dedication have left a lasting mark on both TCU and the broader fraternity and sorority community.

 

Texas State

On April 5, the brothers of the Eta Tau Chapter at Texas State University proudly participated in the university’s annual Bobcat Build event, the campus’ largest community service initiative. The chapter was honored to give back to the local community through hands-on service.

Brothers from the Eta Tau Chapter at Texas State University helped coordinate a donation of food and essential supplies to the Central Texas Food Bank in support of relief efforts in Kerrville, which was recently devastated by flooding. The Legion of Honor commends these brothers on extending the helping hand and is keeping those impacted by the floods in our thoughts and prayers.

 

UC Davis

The Zeta Xi Chapter at UC Davis hosted its inaugural SNUperbowl powderpuff football philanthropy event in late April. The chapter extends its thanks to everyone who participated and helped make the event memorable, including the tournament champions, Delta Gamma. The chapter also shares a special thank you to Kesem at UC Davis for partnering on this meaningful initiative. Kesem provides vital support to children whose parents have been diagnosed with cancer, offering comfort, connection, and community. The chapter is proud to support such an impactful organization and looks forward to making SNUperbowl a lasting tradition.

 

UC San Diego

In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April), the Kappa Rho Chapter at UC San Diego hosted its annual SNUPERBOWL philanthropy event in support of RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network). This impactful event raised awareness about sexual violence and emphasized the importance of standing with survivors. The chapter extends its gratitude to everyone who participated and helped make the event a success. Congratulations to Sigma Kappa for taking first place and Alpha Chi Omega for earning second. The brothers are proud to support RAINN’s mission and remain committed to promoting safety, support, and awareness within the community.

 

Utah State

Ancestry.com has recently launched new access to Korean-era draft registration cards, in time for the 75th anniversary of the Korean War, which began on June 25, 1950. NBC’s Utah news affiliate, KSL TV 5, recently highlighted the launch, featuring a special Sigma Nu alumnus. One of the draft registration cards used in the segment belonged to Sigma Nu Hall of Fame inductee and Epsilon Upsilon Chapter alumnus LaVell Edwards (Utah State). Brother Edwards was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2023 during the 70th Grand Chapter in recognition of his career as a college football coach at BYU. Brother Edwards is regarded as one of the most successful college football coaches of all time and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2004.

 

Villanova

The Kappa Zeta Chapter at Villanova University had a standout showing at the 2025 Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards, proudly earning the title of IFC Chapter of the Year. Several brothers were also individually recognized for their outstanding contributions: Anthony Taranto Jr. was named IFC Leader of the Year, John Djorup received The Legacy Award, Jack Neal was honored as IFC Emerging Leader of the Year, and Rob Dusovic earned IFC New Member of the Year. The chapter also received the Values in Action 4s Recognition, further highlighting its commitment to excellence and the values of Sigma Nu. Congratulations to all the award recipients!

 

Virginia Wesleyan

Congratulations to Brother Casey Bennett of the Iota Beta Chapter at Virginia Wesleyan University for being recognized as the university’s Top Senior Biochemistry Major! This outstanding achievement reflects Casey’s dedication, hard work, and academic excellence. The chapter is incredibly proud of his accomplishments and looks forward to seeing his continued success beyond graduation.

 

Wake Forest

The Lambda Alpha Chapter at Wake Forest University and the General Fraternity are proud to recognize Brother Peter J. Mohler on his appointment as the 30th President of the University of Alabama. A distinguished leader in higher education, Dr. Mohler recently served as Executive Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Knowledge at The Ohio State University and as Chief Scientific Officer of OSU’s Wexner Medical Center. With over two decades of experience advancing research, innovation, and strategic partnerships, he also served as OSU’s acting president in 2023. In his words, “It is a tremendous honor to be named the next president of The University of Alabama... I look forward to working collaboratively across campus, the UA System and the state to expand our impact.”

 

Washington

In May, the Gamma Chi Chapter at the University of Washington celebrated Founder’s Day with a memorable gathering of collegiate brothers and alumni. The event was a meaningful tribute to the legacy and continued strength of the chapter, highlighted by the generous awarding of over $10,000 in scholarships to deserving brothers, thanks to the support of Gamma Chi alumni. The evening also featured special guest Coach Danny Sprinkle, Washington’s Men’s Basketball Head Coach, who spoke about the power of teamwork and the lasting impact of the memories made on campus.

 

Washington & Lee

In early April, members of the group working to reestablish the Lambda Chapter at Washington and Lee University volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Rockbridge County, contributing their time and energy to support local housing efforts. This service project reflects the group’s commitment to rebuilding a strong foundation, both in the community and within the Fraternity.

The Fraternity is proud to recognize Lambda Chapter Brother Jason Aiken on his recent appointment to the university’s Board of Trustees. A former Lambda Chapter Treasurer, Recorder, and Scholarship Chairman and varsity wrestling team member, Brother Aiken graduated cum laude with a BBA in accounting before earning his MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. He has built an impressive career in finance and leadership, currently serving as Executive Vice President of Technologies at General Dynamics, where he also held roles as CFO and senior VP at Gulfstream Aerospace. Deeply engaged with W&L, Brother Aiken has contributed his time and expertise through the Williams School Advisory Board and campus career events. He and his wife, Rachelle, reside in Fairfax, Virginia, with their two children. Congratulations to Brother Aiken on this well-deserved honor and continued service to his alma mater.

During the annual Homestead reunion for Washington and Lee University alumni, an event where Sigma Nu consistently maintains a strong presence, a large group of Lambda Chapter alumni spanning the classes of 1969 to 2015 gathered in Virginia for a memorable weekend. The highlight of the visit was a special gathering at the Lambda Chapter house, marking the official return of the chapter to its historic home. Activities included house tours, a luncheon reception, and an alumni meeting to share updates and future plans. The group also visited The Rock, where they received a guided tour of the Sigma Nu Headquarters property from General Fraternity staff. Lambda Chapter alumni participating in the visit to The Rock included Roddy Roediger, David Hull, Dave Bethea, Stuart Fauber, Carl Adams, Mike Peck, Woody Woodard, Bob Jungman, Joel Mohrman, Robert Jones, Gary Seldomridge, Jay Dorman, Paul Reilly, and Jon Solomon.

 

West Georgia

In late April, collegiate brothers and alumni from the Theta Pi Chapter at the University of West Georgia came together to host the 2025 Sigma Nu Alumni Golf Tournament. The event was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect, strengthen bonds across generations, and support the chapter’s continued success. Thanks to the strong turnout and enthusiastic participation, the tournament was a great success, and the chapter looks forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.

 

West Virginia

Over the weekend of April 26, the Gamma Pi Chapter at West Virginia University hosted its inaugural Grand Slam Philanthropy Home Run Derby, raising an impressive $15,000 for the Shawn Clothier Student Assistance Fund. The event supported mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and provided critical assistance to WVU students in need, helping foster both academic and professional development. The chapter extends its sincere thanks to the friends, families, and generous alumni whose support made this meaningful event possible.

Congratulations to Sigma Nu Hall of Fame brother Ken Kendrick, principal owner and managing general partner of the Arizona Diamondbacks, on his selection as a 2025 Horatio Alger Award recipient. The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans was founded in 1947 to promote and ensure the American Dream for future generations, honor the achievements of outstanding Americans who have succeeded in spite of adversity, and emphasize the importance of higher education. The Legion of Honor extends a hearty Hi Rickety to Brother Kendrick in recognition of this outstanding achievement.

 

Western Kentucky

This spring, the Eta Rho Chapter at Western Kentucky University continued its strong commitment to service by hosting a second philanthropy week focused on suicide prevention. For the second consecutive year, the chapter partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and participated in the Out of the Darkness Walk on campus—an event that brought together students and community members from across Bowling Green. Through this initiative, the chapter raised over $2,000 in support of AFSP’s mission. Motivated by the importance of addressing often-overlooked mental health issues, the brothers of Eta Rho are proud to support this cause and plan to continue building awareness and raising funds in the years to come.

 

Wyoming

The Epsilon Delta Chapter at the University of Wyoming is proud to celebrate a stellar year marked by several notable honors at the annual FSL Awards. Brother Zach Sullivan was named Fraternity Man of the Year and inducted into the Undergraduate Hall of Fame, while Brother Darren Ferguson received the Pokes Pride Award. The chapter was also recognized for hosting the Outstanding Social Event in partnership with Alpha Phi and took home first place in the Greek Week Talent Show. The chapter extends its gratitude to the FSL Office, Interfraternal Council, and Panhellenic Council for organizing an outstanding event and fostering a strong Greek community.
