Guidance for Current Candidates

For chapters continuing to operate virtually, many are wondering what they should be doing with their current candidate class. While the experience may look different, there is no reason that you cannot still successfully complete the candidate education program when operating virtually.

Remaining educational programming for candidates can be completed either in-person, once normal operations resume, or virtually using a service such as Zoom or Google Hangout. Candidates’ review of the online participant library resources for remaining Phase I sessions could also stand in place of facilitated sessions.

Review the Fraternity’s LEAD Phase I webpage for the Phase I facilitator manual and online resource library for participant resources.

You can also conduct virtual check-in meetings using a video chat app like FaceTime or Google Duo. This may be something to encourage Big Brothers to do with their Little Brothers on a weekly basis, at a minimum. Some questions to consider for the check-in discussion:

  • How are you holding up?
  • How are things going with your classes?
  • What questions do you have about how the chapter is doing?
  • Any issues accessing the online LEAD resources? What did you learn in your review?
  • What are the three things you want to get accomplished over the next week?

  - Hold him accountable by checking in via text between now and the next meeting.

If you have any questions or need assistance in transitioning to an online-based delivery of your chapter’s candidate education plan, please contact your chapter’s Leadership Consultant.
