THE PROGRAM

The 63rd Grand Chapter will officially kick off with on-site registration for all attendees on Saturday afternoon, July 12, 2008. For those alumni members who would like to arrive a day early for pre-convention activities, there is a "Sold!…for Sigma Nu" silent/live auction planned for Friday night, July 11, 2008. Additionally, on Saturday morning, July 12, 2008, alumni members can elect to play in the Lone Star Sigma Nu Golf Tournament and/or attend a Sigma Nu Alumni Reception that evening.

The remainder of the program will include legislative sessions, educational workshops, and presentations of both chapter and individual awards. Time will also be given to take advantage of all that the city of Austin has to offer! The 63rd Grand Chapter will conclude on Wednesday, July 16, 2008. The schedule below is tentative and subject to change.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Online registration is strongly encouraged and can be accessed through our web site at www.sigmanu.org/grandchapter. All registrations will be due no later than April 30, 2008. All late registrants will be assessed a $50.00 late registration fee, per person, for processing. If you are unable to register online, please contact our office for additional support.

Please note: the registration fees cover materials, convention fees, and special meals only. Individual attendees and/or their undergraduate or alumni chapters are responsible for all lodging, travel and additional meal expense incurred.


UNDERGRADUATE REGISTRATION

Each undergraduate chapter should register two voting delegates. The fees for these two delegates have already been billed, to each chapter as "Conclave Fee" and are non-refundable. These fees cover attendance for two voting delegates at all convention business and educational sessions from Saturday through Wednesday.

Additional Undergraduate convention registration (Saturday – Wednesday) is US $225.00. This discounted convention rate is only available for our collegiate members and includes the full convention experience from Opening Session to the Closing Banquet.


ALUMNI REGISTRATION

There are several registration packages available for our alumni members to give you the most flexibility with your schedule. And, for an additional cost, all alumni have the opportunity to play in our Lone Star Sigma Nu Golf Tournament on Saturday morning, July 12, 2008. Additional a la carte items and events, including a Sigma Nu Alumni Polo, are available for purchase in addition to packages listed below:

Weekend Alumni convention registration (Friday – Sunday) is US $180.00. This package includes admission to the Sold!...for Sigma Nu silent/live auction on Friday night, the Alumni Reception on Saturday night, attendance at the Alumni Breakfast and both the Opening Ceremonies and Maddox Honor Lecture on Sunday morning and all other convention-related materials.

Full Alumni convention registration (Friday – Wednesday) is US $295.00. In addition to everything offered in the Weekend Alumni package, this package includes all other convention-related business and educational sessions, a ticket to Sigma Nu LIVE on Monday night and an individual meal ticket for the Closing Reception & Banquet on Tuesday night.

Closing Reception & Banquet Only (Tuesday Night) Single ticket registration for the closing reception and banquet is US $65.00. Couple ticket registration is US $125.00.


ACCOMMODATIONS

The 63rd Grand Chapter will be held at the Hilton Austin on 500 East 4th St. Austin, TX. Providing spectacular accommodations in the heart of the "Live Music Capital of the World," the Hilton Austin is offering special Sigma Nu rates (based on availability) from July 11-16, 2008. For anyone who would like to arrive early and/or stay late, the Hilton Austin will also honor the special Sigma Nu rate three days before and after our event, based on availability. For reservations, please utilize their online booking center or call their toll-free reservation desk at 800.236.1592 or 512.482.8000. When calling, please be sure to mention you are attending Sigma Nu's 63rd Grand Chapter, group code SNF, to take advantage of these discounted rates.

Single or Double Occupancy: $139.00/night + tax [approx. 15%]
Triple Occupancy:$159.00/night + tax [approx. 15%]
Quad Occupancy: $179.00/night + tax [approx. 15%]

Please Note: Lodging is not automatically booked or covered in your conference registration or delegate fees! All rooms must be individually booked by May 31, 2008, for guaranteed availability and for the discounted rates outlined above.


DIVISION COMMANDERS

Division Commanders should refer to their job description and expectations sheet for more information about the registration and lodging fees associated with Grand Chapter. Should you have additional questions, please contact Todd Denson at Sigma Nu Headquarters. Also, if you are interested in sharing a room with another Division Commander, please let Todd know.


TRAVEL

Please plan to arrive at the hotel no later than 5:00 PM on Saturday, July 12th so you do not miss our Grand Chapter registration time. There will also be an Alumni Reception that evening.

Those who will be flying should make arrangements to fly into the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport [airport code AUS]. Sigma Nu has partnered with American Airlines to provide discounted airfare for all our attendees who book their flights more than 30 days in advance of our convention. More information about this special discount offer can be obtained by contacting their Meeting Services desk directly at 800.433.1790 and referencing Star File #A8578AQ.

For those choosing not to fly on American Airlines, the following sites provide convenient access to other discounted flights and fares: www.orbitz.com, www.expedia.com, or www.travelocity.com.

Those who will be driving to Grand Chapter will receive more detailed directions and parking instructions in their confirmed attendee mailing to be sent by late June 2008.


REIMBURSEMENT

Each undergraduate chapter attending the 63rd Grand Chapter will receive a travel reimbursement in the amount of $0.15/mile ONE WAY, credited to their chapter account after the conclusion of Grand Chapter. Reimbursement checks WILL NOT be issued this year. To estimate the amount of your chapter's reimbursement credit, use www.mapquest.com, or a similar service, to calculate the one way mileage between your chapter's city and Austin, TX.


LEGISLATION

Grand Chapter legislative proposals should be received at the Sigma Nu Fraternity Headquarters office, in writing and in proper form, no later than May 15, 2008, to allow for advance review by the Jurisprudence Committee. A separate mailing will be sent to all Chapter Commanders with the proper form and instructions for submission of such proposals. That form and instructions are also available via our web site. NOMINATIONS

All nominations for the elected positions of the High Council (to be elected during the 63rd Grand Chapter in Austin, TX) should be received in writing at the Sigma Nu Fraternity Headquarters office by May 15, 2008. They should be mailed to: Sigma Nu Fraternity Headquarters, ATTN: Nominating Committee, P.O. Box 1869, Lexington, VA 24450.

Nominations should include the name and chapter designation of the nominee, a current resume, and the position for which the individual is being nominated [Regent-Elect, Grand Treasurer, or Vice Regent]. AWARDS

Applications for Sigma Nu's alumni awards program are due no later than April 25, 2008. These awards include Alumnus of the Biennium, Chapter Advisor of the Year, Housing Corporation Officer of the Year, Alumni Chapter Officer of the Year, Division Commander of the Year, Greek Advisor of the Year, and the Regent's Medallion of Merit. Applications for Sigma Nu's undergraduate awards program are due no later than April 25, 2008. These awards include Rock Chapter, Talent of the Year, Scholar of the Year, Man of the Year, Athlete of the Year, and Alpha Affiliate. SPOUSE/GUEST

Austin, TX...The Live Music Capital of the World! Though the Fraternity will not be providing Spouse/Guest programming options this year, there will be plenty of time for your spouse or guest to enjoy everything that Austin has to offer. Guest meal tickets for all Fraternity-provided meals will also be available for purchase on-site. Make plans now to reconnect to the Fraternity and truly discover all that Austin has to offer!


DELEGATE
CHANGES

While not encouraged, should your chapter's delegates change for any reason after registering for Grand Chapter, please immediately notify our offices in writing to ensure our records remain accurate. For the fastest processing, please submit this notification electronically to gc.info@sigmanu.org. You will receive a confirmation reply once processed.


CANCELLATIONS

As previously mentioned, the "Conclave Fee" assessed to our chapters is non-refundable. However, Additional Delegate and Alumni Delegate registrations may be cancelled and registration fees will be refunded according to the following schedule:

Cancellation BEFORE April 30, 2008: Full refund issued
Cancellation AFTER April 30, 2008: Refund issued, less $75.00 materials fee
Cancellation AFTER June 30, 3008: Refund issued, less $150.00 materials fee

Failure to attend WITHOUT Cancellation: No refund issued

All cancellations must be received in writing and can be submitted electronically to gc.info@sigmanu.org . You will receive a confirmation reply once processed.
