Grants & Scholarships

The Sigma Nu Founders General Scholarship Fund recognizes undergraduate brothers who exemplify the Fraternity’s founding principles of Love, Honor, and Truth through academic achievement, leadership, and service to their campus and community. Multiple scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding initiates who demonstrate a commitment to Sigma Nu’s values.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be an initiated member of Sigma Nu in good standing.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
• Demonstrate leadership through campus involvement, extracurricular activities, and positions of responsibility.
• Submit personal references as part of the application process.

The Thomas M. Lofton National Scholarship Fund honors the life and legacy of Brother Thomas M. Lofton, a Hall of Honor member whose lifelong commitment to Sigma Nu exemplified leadership, scholarship, service, and philanthropy. The scholarship recognizes undergraduate brothers who demonstrate academic excellence, campus and chapter involvement, and a dedication to the values of Sigma Nu.

Brother Lofton, an initiate of the Epsilon Mu Chapter (Butler University) and affiliate of the Beta Eta Chapter (Indiana University), devoted his life to strengthening the Fraternity and supporting the success of its members. His generous investments in chapter scholarship funds at Butler and Indiana have helped generations of brothers excel academically and contributed to the long-term success of both chapters. Through this national scholarship, his legacy continues to inspire and support future Sigma Nu leaders.

The International Student Scholarship Fund supports the academic success of Sigma Nu’s international members by providing financial assistance to undergraduate brothers studying in the United States on a student visa. Established to recognize the unique contributions and experiences of international students, the scholarship helps ensure they have the opportunity to thrive academically while participating fully in the Sigma Nu experience.

One scholarship is awarded annually to a qualified applicant.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be an international student studying in the United States on a valid student visa.
• Be an initiated member of Sigma Nu in good standing.
• Be enrolled full-time at a college or university with an active Sigma Nu chapter.

The Oakley Brothers Scholarship Fund recognizes undergraduate brothers who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and a commitment to the values of Sigma Nu. Established to advance the educational mission of the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation, the fund provides scholarships to initiates who exemplify leadership both within their chapter and on campus.

Multiple scholarships are awarded annually to qualified applicants.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be an initiated member of Sigma Nu in good standing.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Demonstrate leadership through campus involvement, extracurricular activities, and positions of responsibility.
• Submit personal references as part of the application process.
• Preference is given to initiated, full-time students of the Theta Chapter at the University of Alabama.
