In 2001, the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation established the Omega Society with a singular purpose: to preserve and protect the Fraternity’s historic Headquarters in Lexington, Virginia. At the time, Headquarters carried a $732,000 mortgage and only $25,000 was budgeted annually for maintenance. Through the generosity of Omega Society members, the mortgage was retired in 2004, and today their ongoing support provides nearly $75,000 each year for the maintenance, preservation, and enhancement of Sigma Nu’s Headquarters.
Named after the final letter of the Greek alphabet, the Omega Society symbolized the Foundation’s goal of bringing the Headquarters mortgage to an end. With that milestone achieved, the Society’s mission continues by ensuring the Fraternity’s birthplace remains a source of pride, inspiration, and pilgrimage for future generations.
As Brother Dick Fletcher, often called “Mr. Sigma Nu,” wrote when Headquarters returned to Lexington in 1957:
“Sigma Nu is going home…to stimulate pride in our heritage and encourage pilgrimages to our birthplace.”
Those words remain as meaningful today as they were then. By joining the Omega Society, you help preserve the Fraternity’s crown jewel and ensure that every brother has the opportunity to experience the history, traditions, and values that define the Legion of Honor.

Become a member of the Omega Society by making or renewing your annual gift online. Your support helps preserve, maintain, and enhance Sigma Nu’s historic Headquarters in Lexington, ensuring it remains a source of pride, inspiration, and pilgrimage for generations of brothers to come. Omega Society membership is recognized with a minimum annual calendar-year contribution of $1,000 to the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation.
