Ralph P. Moore
Ralph P. Moore, Iota Lambda (Jacksonville State), is Owner and President of the AHI Group, the parent company of AHI Corporate Housing and AHI Properties. He is also the Owner and President of Transition Planning.
Mr. Moore graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1977 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and minor in Accounting. While at Jacksonville, he was active in Sigma Nu Fraternity (Iota Lambda) where he was a charter member, pin number 15. He served the chapter in various offices including Treasurer and Commander. He was also the chapter delegate to College of Chapters and attended Grand Chapters in Nashville, Little Rock and New Orleans. He later served as House Corporation President for Iota Lambda. He was a member of the House Corporation at Birmingham Southern (Lambda Theta). He also served as co-advisor for the colony at UAB with Austin Landry in the mid 90’s.
Shortly after graduating, Mr. Moore went to work at Protective Life as an actuarial student. His responsibilities included developing life insurance products to ensure they met company projections and profits. He also worked at American Agency Life and Provident Life and Accident as an Associate Actuary developing life insurance products and negotiating reinsurance treaties. He left Provident Life & Accident in 1984 to take a position with Tillinghart Nelson and Warren, an actuarial consulting firm. While there, he worked on designing deferred compensation plans for Fortune 500 companies and funding them with life insurance.
He left the actuarial profession to pursue a career in the sales of financial service products. For the last 25 years, he has worked with high net worth individuals and businesses to help in succession planning as well as estate planning. He is the president of Leaders Financial, a life insurance producer group of approximately 40 sophisticated life producers in 10 states. As President, he helps the agents design life insurance plans to fit their clients’ needs. He is also the owner of Brokerhouse Insurance, a life insurance brokerage agency serving 300 agents in Alabama and Georgia.
In 1994, Mr. Moore got involved in Apartment Hunters Inc (AHI) by purchasing half interest in the company. At the time, AHI was an apartment locator service and the publisher of an apartment guide. Under Mr. Moore’s direction, the company focused on helping people locate short-term furnished housing. By 1997, the company had sold the apartment guide and was focusing on the short-term furnished housing which ultimately became known as corporate housing. In the late 1990’s, AHI expanded operations into Atlanta and Huntsville to meet the needs of its largest customer. By 2004, Mr. Moore bought out his partner and became sole owner of the company.
The company continued to grow. It opened AHI Properties, a property management company for upscale single family residences by buying the assets of RentSouth and started with 107 houses under management. In 2006, AHI formed a separate company, Suite Living to acquire the Marriott Execustay franchises in Mobile, Chattanooga, Nashville and Memphis. In 2010, the Oklahoma City office was opened followed the next year by Louisville.
Today, AHI has corporate housing offices in 9 cities, has over 850 corporate apartments and 80 employees making it one of the ten largest corporate housing companies in the country. The AHI Properties division has 3 offices and manages approximately 600 homes.
Mr. Moore lives in Birmingham with his wife Catherine. They have 3 children, Patrick, Justin and Katie. He is an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where he is a past president of the Pastoral Council and a member of the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies include traveling, baseball and following his children’s athletic endeavors.
