The Mu Kappa Chapter at Southeast Missouri State University earned impressive recognition at the university’s annual awards ceremony for its commitment to excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service. The chapter received honors for Academic Success and Membership Development & Education, along with honorable mention awards in Chapter Management and Civic & Community Engagement. Individual accolades included Kaden Moore as New Member of the Year, Evan Voss as Sophomore of the Year, Grant Breece as IFC Man of the Year, and Katie Krodinger as IFC Faculty Member of the Year.

Last fall, the Mu Kappa Chapter continued its meaningful tradition of service by assisting with the setup and teardown of the annual Avenue of Flags at Cape County Park North. The display honors local veterans who lost their lives while serving, providing the community with a powerful place of remembrance. Now an annual part of the chapter’s service week since 2023, the initiative has grown from a single volunteer effort into a deeply valued community partnership. This year, 20 Mu Kappa brothers participated, motivated both by the significance of the cause and personal connections – several members have family members who are veterans. Service Chairman Evan Voss coordinated the chapter’s involvement, working directly with park staff to organize volunteer shifts for both installation and removal.

This past summer, the Mu Kappa Chapter at Southeast Missouri State University continued its strong partnership with the Cape Catfish, a Prospect League baseball team based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The relationship has deepened as brothers Eli Grant, Jacob Muelchi, and Logan Mizicko secured internships with the team, gaining valuable professional experience. Beyond internships and game-day gatherings, Mu Kappa members regularly volunteer with the team, reinforcing their commitment to service and community engagement. The partnership continues to provide meaningful opportunities for leadership, professional development, and brotherhood.

On August 25, the Mu Kappa Chapter hosted its annual invite-only dinner at the Cape Girardeau Country Club, welcoming more than 80 brothers, alumni, university staff, and potential new members. Since its founding in 1994, the event has evolved into a signature tradition that showcases the chapter’s strong alumni involvement and commitment to academic excellence. Distinguished guests included Past Vice Regent Shon Christy (Akron), Interim Director of Student Services Katie Krodinger, Division Commander Chris Foeste, and alumnus Andrew Wildhaber. Alumni speakers shared reflections on how Sigma Nu has shaped their lives, while 13 brothers received grade reimbursement awards totaling thousands of dollars. Planned each year by the chapter’s Executive Board and Alumni Relations team, the dinner continues to strengthen the lifelong bond between Mu Kappa’s collegiate and alumni members.
