The Nu Alpha Chapter at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith was recognized for its outstanding leadership and commitment to community during the university’s annual NUMA Awards Ceremony, which celebrates the achievements of registered student organizations. Brother Johne Bowman was named 2026 Greek Man of the Year, recognizing his exceptional leadership, service, and dedication to the chapter, the fraternity and sorority community, and the university. In addition, Nu Alpha received the Commitment to Connection and Belonging Award, honoring the chapter’s efforts to foster a welcoming environment where members feel supported, valued, and challenged to reach their full potential.

This past October, the Nu Alpha Chapter captured its 11th Greek Week victory-the 13th Greek Week title in the history of the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith-continuing a tradition of excellence that dates back to the event’s inception in 2013. The Chapter has taken great pride in past Greek Week competitions, and this year, every brother played a role in delivering another strong showing. From months of preparation and required attendance to hours of dance practice, community service, and philanthropy, the brothers fully embraced the challenge. The chapter donated thousands of canned goods, created an impressive canned-food art installation, and dedicated countless hours to serving the local community.

On the morning of September 11, brothers and new members of the Nu Alpha Chapter at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith joined students, staff, and community members for UAFS Army ROTC’s annual 9/11 Stair Climb in the Stubblefield Center. Participants ran 2,200 steps to honor the 343 FDNY firefighters and 2,977 lives lost during the attacks on September 11, 2001.
