Over the last 35 years, Charlie has served in full-time roles as CEO, COO, and Chairman of six companies (4 public/2 private) ranging in size from $80MM to $1.2B. Charlie currently is the CEO of Standard and Albany Furniture, owned by Aterian Investment Partners.

            From March of 2015 until February 2018 he served as CEO of W/S Packaging Holdings Inc. headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin. W/S Packaging Holdings Inc. is one of the largest printing and label converting operators in North America. It operates 17 manufacturing plants and produces high-quality packaging products for doing business worldwide. In February of 2018, the company was sold to Platinum Equity, LLC for $370MM after a successful turnaround of the company.

            From November of 2009 until March of 2014 Charlie had a partnership with Jeff Armstrong “Eitel & Armstrong, LLC”. During that period Charlie served as interim CEO of three companies: Panolam Industries International, Inc; Criterion Brock, Inc.; and Advanced Sleep Concepts, Inc. Eitel & Armstrong, LLC is a consulting practice now known as North Inlet Partners, LLC. Eitel & Armstrong, LLC provides hands-on operating and financial guidance to middle-market firms besides capital formation, acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring, and private placements.

            Before that, Charlie served as Vice-Chair of the Board of Simmons Bedding Company, LLC an Atlanta-based manufacturer of mattresses, from October 2008 to December 2009. He served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Simmons Bedding Company, LLC from January 2000 until his appointment to Vice Chair in 2008. Atlanta-based Simmons Bedding Company, LLC employs over 3,000 associates in North America and operates 20 manufacturing plants, with sales of more than $1B. During Charlie’s nine years at Simmons Bedding Company, LLC, net sales doubled, and income tripled.

Over the course of his career, Charlie held leadership positions with Interface, Inc. (President and COO), and Collins & Aikman Floorcoverings, Inc. (President and CEO). He also serves on the Board of Directors of Duke Realty Corporation (NYSE: DRE), American Fidelity Assurance Company, and is a former board member of Mattress Firm Holding Corp.

Charlie is active in many civic and professional organizations, including the World Presidents’ Organization and “Points of Light Foundation” where he worked with President George H.W. Bush to promote the spirit of volunteerism. He is former Chairman of the International Sleep Products Association. He was honored by the City of Hope with the Spirit of Life Award in 2004, leading fundraising of over $2MM to benefit Cancer treatment and research. In June of 2008, Charlie was named winner of the 2008 Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee in the Consumer Products Category.

            Charlie is the author of two books, Eitel Time: Turnaround Secrets, 1995, and Mapping Your Legacy: A Hook It Up Journey, 1998. Also, in print is 84 Quotes, which is a pocket-sized booklet of value quotes by Charlie. His successful turnaround of Simmons Bedding Company, LLC is featured in a four-part Harvard Business School Case Study “Leading Change at Simmons” and is taught at several business schools around the country.

            A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Charlie graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1971 with a B.S. degree in business administration. He was inducted into the Oklahoma State University College of Business Hall of Fame in 1997, the Oklahoma State University Alumni Hall of Fame in February 2005, received the prestigious Henry G. Bennett Distinguished Fellow for the International School of Business in 2008, and was selected as one of the top 100 Oklahoma State University graduates in 100 years. Charlie was honored by his fraternity, Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc., when they inducted him into the Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. Hall of Fame in 2008 and later served as the fraternity Chief Executive Officer in the position of Regent of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc.

            Charlie and his wife, Cindy, have three adult children and five grandchildren.
