Mu Kappa's Dues Reimbursement Program

Chapter & Alumni News

Shortly after charterting, the Mu Kappa Chapter (Southeast Missouri State) bought their first fraternity house. With the formation of the House Corporation, and with very few alumni, it was a key mission of that organization to give back to the chapter and to positively incentivize the collegiate members to excel academically. Thus, some of the profit made by the rental of the fraternity house started the Dues Reimbursement Program. Since its inception, it’s been a line item in the budget.

The program initially began paying the amount due to the General Fraternity for any initiated collegian that made a 4.0, such as initiate dues and Risk Management Assessment costs. Over time, it was expanded to candidates and used as a recruitment tool. The program further expanded to include GPAs starting at 3.25. Using a stair-step system, candidates earning a 3.25 receive a check for 25% of their candidate dues, 3.50 gets 50%, and 3.75 gets 75%.

“It’s been a tremendous program, a great recruiting tool, and an outstanding legacy started by our founding fathers shortly after chartering,” said Alumni Advisory Board Chairman Chris Foeste. “Candidates and initiates see the alumni focusing on scholastic achievement and giving back directly to those who achieve academic excellence.”
