Location: University of Kansas – Lawrence, KS

Re-Chartering Date: October 25, 2008

Campus Snapshot: The University of Kansas, or KU, is located in one of the most beautiful "college towns" in the country and boasts both academic and athletic excellence. Home of the 2008 NCAA Basketball Champions, this institution has over 40 nationally-ranked academic programs – many in the top 10.
Chapter Profile: Originally founded in 1884, the Nu Chapter has a historic place at KU – Stubbs' Governor's Mansion at 1501 Sigma Nu Place – but also within the liturgy of Sigma Nu. Perlee Rawson Bennett, one of the founders of the Nu chapter, shaped today's Ritual Ceremonies of Sigma Nu. Also, the Creed that binds all Sigma Nu members and alumni was written by Walter James Sears, a Nu initiate.
On October 25th, 2008 the Nu Chapter became the fourth single-letter designation chapter to be reinstalled in the past eighteen months, initiating 25 Knights with another 33 Candidates awaiting initiation in early spring. Furthermore, the colony earned their charter in less than one calendar year, a tremendous accomplishment by any standards.
The Chapter has honorably recognized Donald J. Raidt (Kansas) by re-naming the Chapter Room after him for his endless dedication to keeping the Sigma Nu recolonization effort alive during Sigma Nu's hiatus from campus. Also, the chapter would like to thank Brothers Mike Elwell (Kansas), Paul Johnson (Kansas), and Al Higdon (Kansas) for their support and involvement with the chapter.
