Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. is pleased to announce that Justin Wenger (William Jewell) has been selected to serve as Director of Financial Operations.
Wenger, a graduate from our Beta Xi Chapter at William Jewell College, began his tenure with Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. in 2002. Justin served as a Leadership Consultant for the Midwest/Central region and, after two years of travel, he was named Director of Education. He immediately began looking for ways to improve upon the educational programs and services of the Fraternity.
"The opportunity to serve as the Director of Education was tremendous," said Wenger. "The two years of traveling and working with chapters helped me to better understand the challenges that chapters were facing in membership development and operational effectiveness. I was able to take that knowledge and apply it to my new responsibilities in the Education Department."
To ensure a seamless transition from the Education Department over to the Accounting and Finance Department, Wenger will be completing and/or handing off any education projects currently under development over the next three to five weeks. During this time, he will also begin taking on some of his new duties as Director of Financial Operations. Current Director of Leadership Development Scott Smith (Central Arkansas) will lead the continued day-to-day management and oversight of our Education Department.
"It's important that this transition take place deliberately and over an extended period of time to ensure the Fraternity's ability to continue offering outstanding programs and services to its members," said Wenger.
As a part of these ongoing efforts, the General Fraternity will be announcing the appointment of a new Associate Director to the Education Department in the near future.
Wenger's new role will focus primarily on managing chapter accounts receivables, membership reporting and the budgeting and planning process of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. Specifically, Wenger will be responsible for the development and implementation of educational and training programs for chapter officers on financial and collection procedures, as well as working with Chief Financial Officer Nick Murphy (Kentucky) and Executive Director Brad Beacham (Texas Christian) in managing the implementation of the Fraternity's biennial operating budget.
"I'm very excited about the opportunity to be working in financial operations," said Wenger. "This is a chance for me to apply my skills and previous experience to help drive our organization even closer to our vision, mission and strategic goals."
